Base will activate the B20 token standard on the mainnet on July 9

According to official documentation, Base plans to activate the B20 token standard on the mainnet at 2:00 (UTC+8) on July 9. B20 is a superset of ERC-20, running as a native precompiled program on Base, which allows for lower transfer costs and higher throughput while maintaining full compatibility with ERC-20.

Functions such as roles, supply caps, pausing, strategy gating, memo, and permit are all built into the chain. The standard ERC-20 leaves these logics for users to build, audit, and maintain themselves. With B20, developers only need to call the singleton B20 Factory to create a fully configured token in a single transaction.
