According to Jinshi reports, the Italian Ministry of Defense issued a statement on August 2, stating that the Italian Navy, executing a long-term EU military operation in the Mediterranean, intercepted a sanctioned Russian "shadow fleet" tanker on the same day. The tanker was intercepted in waters west of Pantelleria, and the captain refused to cooperate.
