Strategy Bitcoin holdings have an unrealized profit of over 2.8 billion dollars, Saylor hints at possibly restarting purchases

2026-08-31 03:47:13

As Bitcoin's price rose to about $79,007 on Sunday, the 840,447 Bitcoins held by Michael Saylor's Strategy had a total value of approximately $6.64 billion, about 4.4% higher than its average purchase cost of $75,653, resulting in an unrealized gain of over $2.8 billion. Saylor posted a chart of his holdings on the X platform with the caption "We're Back," sparking speculation in the market about a possible resumption of buying.

Strategy typically discloses its weekly Bitcoin purchases on Monday mornings, and the company has not increased its holdings for about two months. Recently, Strategy raised $334 million by selling MSTR stock without touching its Bitcoin holdings and sold a small amount of Bitcoin to pay preferred stock dividends and buybacks, indicating a shift in capital management strategy. Bitcoin fell to $76,877 last Friday due to comments from Federal Reserve Chairman Waller about inflation cooling less than expected, but it remains far below the historical high of about $126,000 in October.
