Arthur Hayes: If AI computing power demand collapses, the Federal Reserve may be forced to "print money" to save the market
Arthur Hayes posted on the X platform that, aside from AI safety risks, if companies like Anthropic, OpenAI, and SpaceX no longer act as buyers of computing power, the U.S. government may need to take on that role; another scenario is that if the demand for computing power disappears, leading to defaults on related AI debts, the Federal Reserve may need to "print money" to rescue the insurance institutions holding those debts. Hayes stated that regardless of which option is chosen, it will ultimately need to be resolved through monetary expansion, jokingly referring to this situation as "Yachtzee."
