Central Bank of Russia: Will Include Cryptocurrency in Financial Market Risk List

According to Bits.media, the Central Bank of Russia has listed cryptocurrencies as financial market risks in its overview "Main Development Directions of the Russian Financial Market in 2027 and 2028 to 2029," expressing concerns that more and more Russians are using digital assets like stablecoins as substitutes for the national currency.

The central bank stated that investing in digital currencies carries the risk of total loss, with no responsible parties or guarantees. The central bank also pointed out that cryptocurrencies circulate outside of various jurisdictions, reducing the effectiveness of national restrictions and bans, and the lack of unified global regulation creates conditions for the growth of shadow markets. The central bank advocates for criminal liability for unlicensed organizers of digital currency circulation and administrative liability for legal market participants who violate regulations.
