Oracle has initiated a new round of layoffs, with some teams experiencing a double-digit percentage of job cuts
According to Caixin, Oracle Corporation has initiated a new round of layoffs. Leaked internal documents indicate that the layoff ratio for some teams will reach double digits. On September 14 local time, posts claiming to be affected by this round of layoffs appeared on platforms such as LinkedIn, Reddit, and Blind.
Last month, there were reports that the company had developed a new layoff plan to reduce salary costs. Last Friday, Oracle disclosed an expansion of its corporate restructuring plan, adding $700 million for employee severance and layoffs. As of May 31, the total number of employees at the company was 141,000, a decrease of about 21,000 from 162,000 during the same period last year.
Oracle's capital expenditure for the first quarter was $28.5 billion, and it maintained its capital expenditure expectation of $90 billion to $95 billion for the fiscal year 2027. Chief Financial Officer Hilary Maxson stated that the related expenditures are for the procurement of AI racks, cooling systems, and network equipment, and that internal simplification and efficiency improvement measures are core initiatives to control operating costs.
