Anthropic's computing commitment or reaching 517 billion dollars

According to an analysis by The Information, Anthropic has committed to cloud, chip, and data center deals, with costs potentially reaching $517 billion, primarily over the next decade. This is nearly three times its earlier prediction of $180 billion for server leasing by 2029, although the new estimate covers a longer time frame and a broader range of spending categories.

Since October, Anthropic has signed agreements for at least 14.8 gigawatts of computing capacity, in addition to the 1 to 2 gigawatts previously obtained. Amazon and Google account for 11 gigawatts, with estimated costs exceeding $300 billion, approximately over ten years. Other partners include Microsoft, SpaceX, Lambda, and Nscale.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei urged AI labs to "pace the frontier," with demand for Claude Code and Cowork driving the company to acquire more computing power.
