The prediction market platform Kalshi is seeking to raise at least $750 million at a valuation of $40 billion, doubling its valuation of $22 billion six months ago. The platform was approved by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) as a designated contract market in 2021.
As of September 4, Kalshi's trading volume over the past 30 days reached $14.1 billion, while Polymarket's was $3.1 billion, with Kalshi accounting for approximately 82% of the combined trading volume. Over 80% of Kalshi's trading volume comes from sporting events.
