Analysis: Bitcoin's surge to $100,000 is hindered, with investors selling at highs creating upward pressure

2026-10-29 00:24:58

According to Bloomberg, after a summer rebound, Bitcoin's upward momentum is gradually fading, currently retreating to around $80,000, with investors facing ongoing selling pressure as they attempt to breach the $100,000 mark. The cost basis for investors who bought Bitcoin in the past two years is concentrated at $87,000 and above, and the selling pressure around this price level has suppressed Bitcoin's rebound twice this year, followed by at least a 25% retracement in price.

Additionally, the average cost basis for Bitcoin ETF holders is about $81,500. If the price continues to close below this level, it may indicate that the average ETF holder has turned to a floating loss, weakening recent on-chain support. Furthermore, macroeconomic factors are also putting pressure on Bitcoin. AI concept stocks have performed poorly this month, and analysts believe that Bitcoin remains highly correlated with tech stocks. Concerns over AI valuations and debt risks are weighing on Bitcoin, and the market has yet to confirm the start of a new bull market; future trends will still depend on the macro environment and sustained buying performance.
