The Moscow Exchange plans to launch Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDT trading on December 1
According to CoinDesk, Russia's largest stock exchange, the Moscow Exchange, plans to launch trading for Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDT starting December 1, with trading hours from 06:50 to 23:50 Moscow time. The National Settlement Depository will be responsible for clearing, using same-day or next-day settlement, and providing swap tools to manage liquidity.
Ordinary investors must pass a test and can purchase up to 300,000 rubles (approximately $3,700) of crypto assets per year through a single broker, while qualified investors have no limit. Both the Moscow Exchange and the National Settlement Depository were sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury in June 2024. Reports indicate that USDT is issued by Tether, which will freeze wallets on the U.S. Treasury's sanctions list. Anatoly Popov, Vice Chairman of the Moscow Exchange, has stated that under the new regulations, Russia's crypto trading volume could reach 4 trillion rubles, approximately $49 billion, in the first year.
