XRP Ledger developers test a zero-balance account creation plan, which is proposed to be funded by the sponsor to cover the 1 XRP reserve requirement

According to CoinDesk, XRP Ledger developers are testing a new feature that aims to allow the creation of blockchain accounts with an initial balance of zero, with existing accounts bearing the reserve required for new accounts, thereby lowering the financial threshold for payment applications and automated software to create wallets on a large scale. This proposal was submitted on October 15 in the form of a SponsoredAccountCreate transaction proposal.According to current XRP Ledger rules, each account must reserve at least 1 XRP as a reserve, meaning that creating 100,000 independent accounts would require locking up 100,000 XRP. The new proposal intends for sponsored accounts to bear this reserve requirement, and a broader fee sponsorship mechanism in the future could also allow applications to pay transaction fees on behalf of users, but the overall reserve requirement for the network will not be eliminated. This feature is expected to lower the usage threshold for scenarios such as embedded wallets, RLUSD stablecoin payments, and AI agent automated payments. However, the related code is still under review, and the sponsorship mechanism it relies on has not yet gone live on the mainnet. As of October 19, the mechanism has only received 11 votes out of the 35 required validator votes, still falling short of the 29 votes needed for approval.

first_img Mesh collaborates with Visa, allowing encrypted balances to be spent at 175 million merchants

Cryptocurrency payment infrastructure company Mesh announced a partnership with Visa, allowing users to directly spend their cryptocurrency and stablecoin balances from participating wallet applications at over 175 million merchant locations worldwide. This integration supports both offline and online payments through Visa credentials configured in the backend, with Mesh responsible for transaction fund transfers and currency conversion, so users do not need to sell or transfer assets in advance.Bam Azizi, CEO and co-founder of Mesh, stated that cryptocurrency has never been a consumption issue, but rather a "last mile" problem, and previously solving this issue meant needing to obtain a separate card. Mesh handles fund transfers and conversions, allowing balances to be converted into purchasing power at the moment of payment, without users needing to transfer any assets, and merchants not needing to make any changes. The specific launch date of this partnership, supported devices, and participating platforms have not yet been announced.Mesh is a cryptocurrency payment infrastructure company that previously supported the launch of PayPal's "Pay with Crypto" service. In August 2025, institutions such as PayPal Ventures and Coinbase Ventures raised Mesh's total funding to over $130 million. In January of this year, Mesh completed a $75 million Series C funding round led by Dragonfly, entering the unicorn ranks. This partnership is also Visa's latest initiative to continuously integrate cryptocurrency assets into its merchant network, having previously engaged in similar collaborations with WeFi, Bridge, and others.

first_img Troy Cross: Bitcoin balances unlimited printing; the academic community will ultimately accept Bitcoin

In an interview video published by Bitcoin Magazine, philosopher Troy Cross provided answers on whether Bitcoin can truly achieve "the separation of money and state." He stated that he does not expect governments to abandon printing money anytime soon, but believes that Bitcoin serves as a check against endless monetary expansion, as people will choose to seek refuge in Bitcoin.Cross believes that academia will be the last group to understand Bitcoin, following innovators, financial practitioners, and journalists. He mentioned that the "Getting Bitcoin" initiative has made it to The Wall Street Journal, with related Bitcoin articles receiving 4 to 6 times the normal click rates. He also cited a survey from the Nakamoto Project, indicating that Bitcoin is moving towards normalization, while also increasingly showing signs of partisanship and polarization. In the interview, Cross also discussed the branding issues Bitcoin faces, as it is often confused with the broader category of crypto assets, and why price trends, education, and "Number Go Up" have become a universal language. He mentioned the need to bridge the gap and reach the 82% of people who do not yet hold Bitcoin, and explained how Bitcoin can keep governments honest. The video chapters also touched on the setbacks of the Clarity Act and why Bitcoin continues to move forward.

first_img Decrypt launches Money Accounts on Solana, unifying balance coverage for prediction markets and perpetual contracts

According to Decrypt, Decrypt has announced that its self-custody Money Accounts are now live on Solana, providing readers with a single balance that can be used across all Decrypt products to support its financial and intelligence market, The Information Exchange. Decrypt co-founder Ilan Hazan stated that the goal is to achieve one account and one balance, allowing users to utilize various financial tools directly from where they obtain information, from prediction markets to perpetual contracts and swaps. Users can manage all positions in one place without worrying about wallets, cross-chain bridges, or public chains, with relevant partners to be announced in the coming weeks.Deposits and balances are denominated in USDT on Solana, and the same balance can support products such as Earn, Swaps, Predictions, and Perps. Gas and rent are sponsored through joint signatures by payers, so users do not need to hold SOL or consider network fees. The account operates in a self-custody mode, meaning Decrypt does not hold private keys and cannot perform operations on behalf of users, with a private key export feature coming soon. Cross-chain operations are completed at the underlying level; for example, the Myriad Predictions market settles on the BNB Chain, yet users can still trade using the same Solana USDT balance without needing to interact with a cross-chain bridge.Existing Myriad Wallet users can directly use Decrypt Money Accounts, with one account and one balance covering both Decrypt and Myriad without the need for migration.
