IMF: Brazil's cross-border cryptocurrency fund flow has surpassed traditional capital flows

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) stated in its financial system stability assessment report released this month that Brazil's cross-border capital flows based on cryptocurrency have continued to grow since 2017, surpassing traditional capital flows. The report indicates that these capital flows are mostly driven by stablecoins, as businesses and retail investors use stablecoins for efficiency and tax-related reasons. The flow of stablecoins is related to international and local investment indicators such as the S&P 500, VIX, and Bitcoin prices, and is also influenced by exchange rates, interest rates, policy uncertainty, and changes in tax policies. The IMF noted that the Central Bank of Brazil has taken measures to regulate the virtual asset service provider (VASP) industry, but there are still shortcomings in areas such as customer legal protection and asset segregation. Comprehensive implementation of international standards such as the travel rule for anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) is still needed. The report pointed out that Brazil's cryptocurrency system is connected to the traditional financial system, and regulators need to cooperate with domestic and international regulatory bodies to establish a more robust reporting mechanism. The Brazilian Congress is preparing to review Bill 4308/2024 to regulate the status of stablecoins.

NVIDIA invests in OpenAI to co-establish a new AI laboratory, providing large-scale GPU computing power support

According to a report by the WSJ, Nvidia has invested in the AI laboratory Safe Superintelligence (SSI), founded by former OpenAI chief scientist Ilya Sutskever. The two parties have reached a long-term cooperation agreement aimed at expanding SSI's computing resources while helping Nvidia secure important clients in the AI field. Both companies stated that Nvidia made a "large-scale" investment after understanding some of SSI's research progress, but did not disclose the specific amount. As part of the collaboration, SSI will receive a significant amount of Nvidia's flagship GPU resources, with its computing power expected to increase by an order of magnitude. Previously, SSI primarily relied on TPU chips provided by Google for AI research and development. This collaboration indicates that Nvidia is further expanding its AI chip ecosystem and binding future computing power demands through investments in top AI laboratories.SSI was established in 2024 by Ilya Sutskever, with the goal of developing "Safe Superintelligence." The company has previously raised about $2 billion in funding, with investors including Andreessen Horowitz and Sequoia Capital, and reached a valuation of approximately $30 billion last year. This is not Nvidia's first investment in an AI company founded by former core members of OpenAI. In March of this year, Nvidia also invested in Thinking Machines Lab, founded by former OpenAI chief technology officer Mira Murati, whose first AI model is trained on Nvidia hardware.Ilya Sutskever is one of the important researchers in the field of modern artificial intelligence, having co-founded OpenAI and promoted the development of large model technologies such as ChatGPT. However, after leaving OpenAI, he began to question the approach of solely relying on expanding data and computing power to drive AI progress, turning instead to explore new directions in superintelligence research.

hot_img ICBC has completed the first cross-border payment of the new digital RMB on the "Digital Currency Reach" platform in the country, with an amount close to 10 million yuan

The Shanghai Branch of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) has collaborated with ICBC Singapore Branch to successfully implement the country's first cross-border payment business between China and Singapore based on the digital renminbi cross-border settlement comprehensive service platform "Digital Currency Express" (CBETS). This transaction, involving nearly ten million yuan in import shipping fees, was fully paid using digital renminbi, with funds arriving in the Singapore recipient's account on the same day, achieving "zero time difference" and "high transparency" in cross-border fund transfers. The service targets subsidiaries of central enterprise group trade platforms that regularly need to procure iron ore from abroad and pay for shipping fees, with high frequency and large amounts of cross-border settlements."Digital Currency Express" is a cross-border settlement infrastructure built by the International Operation Center of Digital Renminbi under the guidance of the People's Bank of China's Digital Currency Research Institute. Overseas participants can access services through the Hong Kong access point "One Point Access", compatible with both centralized and blockchain systems, and the message standards comply with ISO20022. On June 16, 2026, the first batch of 26 financial institutions signed direct participant service agreements. This business marks a significant breakthrough for ICBC in leveraging the infrastructure of the International Operation Center of Digital Renminbi to establish an integrated cross-border clearing system for domestic and foreign branches, achieving comprehensive coverage of two-way digital renminbi payment and receipt services with Singapore and Laos.

Pendle announces H2 roadmap, doubling down on RWA and institutional markets, Boros will focus on on-chain interest rate derivatives

Pendle co-founder TN and Head of Growth Dan reviewed the developments in the first half of 2026 during the latest community meeting and announced the roadmap for the second half of the year. The team stated that in the first half, Pendle's ecosystem focused on building fixed income infrastructure, with Pendle V2 continuing to solidify its position as an on-chain fixed income protocol, while Boros made initial progress in the on-chain interest rate derivatives market.Data shows that Pendle V2 had an average daily TVL of approximately $1.3 billion in the first half of the year, with 9 out of the 11 major markets on the platform adopting real-world assets (RWA) as collateral, reflecting that institutional funds are continuously flowing into the RWA sector. Additionally, Pendle has launched on the Monad network and within less than a month became one of the top five protocols by TVL on that network, with a locked amount of approximately $150 million. In terms of protocol upgrades, Pendle has completed the migration from vePENDLE to sPENDLE, with about 36% of PENDLE currently staked, of which 93% of stakers have not yet unstaked. The protocol has also utilized revenue to repurchase approximately 2 million PENDLE and significantly reduced weekly liquidity incentives from about 90,000 to 21,000, further enhancing capital efficiency. At the same time, Pendle launched an in-app one-click Loop feature to simplify the operational process of leveraged yield strategies. Another core product, Boros, has surpassed $14 billion in cumulative trading volume within less than a year since its launch, with the number of users increasing by 50% since the beginning of the year. It has also introduced four-legged arbitrage strategies, acceptance of block trades, and a funding rate data dashboard to meet professional trading needs. Looking ahead to the second half of 2026, Pendle will focus on advancing curation infrastructure, allowing external teams to create PT/YT markets, and promoting PT assets as collateral for lending protocols; at the same time, it will collaborate with partners like Morpho to launch Pendle-branded yield vaults, expanding distribution channels for fixed income products. In terms of institutional business, the team is working with several RWA issuers in New York, planning to introduce tokenized ETFs, single bonds, and other on-chain yield products to Pendle, creating a platform for institutional RWA yield discovery and distribution. Boros will shift its strategic focus to cross-exchange funding rate arbitrage, prioritizing services for institutional arbitrageurs, and plans to launch a peer-to-peer acceptance market, funding rate visualization tools, and one-click strategy products for ordinary users, further improving the on-chain interest rate derivatives ecosystem.
