first_img BlackRock CEO Larry Fink: Halting data center construction could lead to a recession in the U.S., warns $40 trillion debt

Larry Fink, CEO of the world's largest asset management company BlackRock, stated in an interview with CNBC on Wednesday that if the United States implements "some kind of pause" on data center construction, it will plunge the U.S. economy into recession. He said, "A large part of our economy is built on such capital expenditure expansion." Data centers are buildings that house a large number of computers and provide computing power for artificial intelligence. Fink's remarks were in response to calls to halt data center construction due to concerns about environmental impacts.Fink dismissed concerns about data centers, stating that most fears are based on "misinformation," and emphasized that "data centers are not the problem." He also pointed out their demand for labor in construction, energy infrastructure, and AI computing hardware. A survey by the Pew Research Center shows that at least 49% of Americans believe data centers negatively impact the environment and the quality of life for surrounding residents. Moody's estimates that U.S. capital expenditure on data centers will reach $700 billion this year, accumulating between $2.4 trillion and $2.48 trillion by 2030, with the global total reaching $7 trillion by the end of this decade.Fink also warned about the government debt issue, stating that the U.S. fiscal deficit is having a serious impact, with national debt rising from $8 trillion in 2000 to $40 trillion in 2026, "an increase of $32 trillion over 26 years," causing a huge shock to credit demand and leading to larger government bond auction sizes. He believes that private capital needs to be unleashed to drive the U.S. economy to achieve 3% growth. BlackRock saw a net inflow of $205 billion in the third quarter, with revenue growth of 19%, adjusted earnings per share increasing by 38% year-on-year, and operating profit margin rising to 47.8%.

HTX DAO Ambassador Molly: Continuously improve the ecological mechanism, promote community nodes and on-chain ecological construction

On the evening of October 6, HTX DAO Ambassador Molly stated at the HTX DAO "Night of the Future" event held in Singapore that HTX DAO is continuously investing in three directions: ecological mechanisms, community building, and on-chain ecology. By continuously optimizing the token economic mechanism, expanding ecological application scenarios, and advancing relevant ecological initiatives according to established mechanisms, a solid foundation for long-term ecological development is being laid.Regarding community building, Molly revealed that HTX DAO plans to promote the construction of regional community nodes in the fourth quarter, supporting community members to organize activities, participate in exchanges, and co-build community culture. Currently, the number of active volunteers participating in community building has approached 200, and there are plans to further expand community participation in the future. In terms of on-chain ecology, HTX DAO is attracting developers from global universities to participate through hackathons and other means, with several projects currently in further incubation or advancement stages, exploring integration with $HTX ecological application scenarios.Molly emphasized that ecological construction requires long-term investment. HTX DAO will continue to improve infrastructure, cultivate active communities, and promote the implementation of ecological applications. She also stated that as one of the participants in the HTX DAO ecosystem, Huobi HTX is also continuously optimizing user experience, including optimizing withdrawal fees, collecting user feedback, and improving the App usage experience, to better respond to user needs and market changes.

Polymarket launched Protocol V2, reconstructing the underlying architecture of the existing protocol

Polymarket has launched the next-generation prediction market smart contract system, Polymarket Protocol V2, which reconstructs the underlying architecture of the existing protocol. The current protocol is based on the Gnosis Conditional Tokens Framework from 2019, requiring additional adapters, trading contracts, and authorization processes for each new market type; V2 unifies this by using a single ERC1155 position token contract, pUSD collateral assets, trading platform contracts, and routers.V2 adopts a modular architecture, initially supporting binary, atomic negative risk, incremental negative risk, and composite markets, and connects to UMA, Chainlink, and other future oracles through a new OracleAggregator. The protocol natively supports cross-chain positions, collateral assets, and settlement results, reserving a foundation for future multi-chain deployments; all contracts can be upgraded under a secure governance process.V2 has been audited by Cantina, Certora, Quantstamp, SigmaPrime, Zellic, and Pashov, with formal verification completed by Certora, offering a maximum bounty of $5 million for critical vulnerabilities. Polymarket will operate a limited number of grayscale markets in the production environment from October 5 to 30, with plans to switch new markets to V2 starting November 2, along with the launch of Data API V2 built on Rust and an internal on-chain indexer.

Gate Europe accelerates the expansion of the European market, with MiCA compliance foundation and liquidity construction advancing simultaneously

According to U.Today, as the EU MiCA transition period ended on July 1, obtaining MiCA authorization has become an important foundation for cryptocurrency trading platforms to continue serving European users. Gate Europe obtained MiCA authorization before the end of the transition period and expanded related services through the European Economic Area passport mechanism. Gate data shows that from June 16 to September 22, the platform added at least 68 new spot trading pairs, currently covering about 190 assets and 382 trading pairs. The article cites data from CASP Tracker, indicating that as of September 28, 84 out of the world's largest 100 cryptocurrency trading platforms have not yet obtained MiCA authorization. Meanwhile, Gate Europe passed the PCI DSS v4.0.1 Level 1 compliance assessment on September 15, covering Gate Connect and Gate Card. Gate Europe CEO Dr. Giovanni Cunti stated that security and compliance are key to building trusted payment services in Europe, and obtaining PCI DSS certification is an important step in strengthening payment infrastructure. In terms of liquidity, Gate data shows that from September 14 to 27, the order book depth for BTC/USDC and ETH/USDC within 0.1% of the midpoint increased by approximately 14% and 12%, reaching $1.32 million and $555,000, respectively. Meanwhile, DefiLlama MiCA exchange data shows that the depth of Gate Europe's spot market within 2% of the midpoint reached $15.9 million, higher than other platforms during the same period. Relying on the compliant foundation built on the dual licenses of MiCA and Payment Institutions (PI), Gate Europe will continue to improve asset coverage and liquidity construction, providing European users with a richer selection of digital asset trading options and a better trading experience.

NEAR co-creation sharing ecological application construction direction and distribution suggestions, covering AI, cross-chain payment, and privacy transactions, among other directions

Illia Polosukhin, co-founder of NEAR, stated that recently the activity of developers within the ecosystem has increased and the development threshold has further lowered, focusing on what kind of applications to build and how to establish distribution channels. In this regard, he proposed a series of potential construction directions, covering AI electronic pets that combine NEAR AI on-chain verifiable reasoning with non-fungible tokens (NFTs), a universal checkout component that supports full-chain intent payments, a decentralized encyclopedia that combines prediction markets with AI-generated content, a privacy off-chain trading (OTC) market based on NEAR Intents and management of anti-liquidation lending and perpetual contracts, a cross-chain activity registration custody tool in the form of a staking deposit, privacy code review agents, enterprise equity structure management tools, Delta neutral strategy management, privacy tracking single transactions based on view keys, end-to-end encrypted medical auxiliary diagnostic systems, privacy voice transcription desktop applications, and AI benchmarking based on private test sets.Regarding product distribution, he suggested combining NEARLegion with community channels like X, achieving multi-chain wallet compatibility through Aurora Intent Connect to lower cross-chain thresholds, and actively expanding across communities and platforms like Product Hunt.

Gate Europe CEO Dr. Giovanni Cunti: Digital assets are being reconstructed from trading targets into a new global business infrastructure

According to Gate Europe CEO Dr. Giovanni Cunti's latest LinkedIn post, global business relies on efficient cross-border capital flows, but traditional international payments still face challenges such as multiple intermediaries, currency exchange, and limited operational efficiency.Dr. Giovanni Cunti emphasized, "Digital assets are opening up new possibilities for businesses in cross-market payments and value flows." He pointed out that stablecoins and blockchain-based payment networks can provide faster settlement speeds, higher transparency, and more flexible cross-border transaction capabilities. Beyond everyday payments, their application scenarios are rapidly expanding to areas such as vendor settlements, multinational payroll distribution, treasury management, and global value transfer. As this ecosystem continues to grow, a clear and defined regulatory framework is crucial. Europe is leading this transformation through MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation), which provides a unified standard for crypto asset services across the EU region. Dr. Giovanni Cunti further noted that in the long run, the value of digital assets will transcend asset trading itself, further deeply integrating into the real economy and the daily operations of global enterprises. Relying on the compliance foundation of the MiCA and Payment Institution (PI) dual licensing system, Gate Europe is deeply integrating digital asset services with traditional payment capabilities, continuously exploring a new paradigm of a highly efficient and closely connected global economy empowered by digital assets.
