first_img The Arbitrum Committee plans to permanently ban three grant abuse projects

The Watchdog Committee of the Arbitrum ecosystem (composed of Entropy Advisors and others) submitted a proposal to the governance forum on September 3, requesting a permanent ban on the projects Good Entry, Limitless, and APX Finance, as well as their founders, prohibiting their participation in all future ArbitrumDAO initiatives. The committee determined that these three projects engaged in grant abuse within the STIP and LTIPP incentive programs, involving a total amount of 457,553 ARB (approximately $76,000).Specifically, Good Entry received 200,000 ARB in the first round of STIP, of which 142,839 ARB flowed to 1,032 ineligible users, and there is evidence of self-farming by associated addresses, with the team refusing to cooperate with the investigation; Limitless exchanged all 75,000 ARB for USDC and cross-chain to Base, being classified as suspected theft; APX Finance was approved for 525,000 ARB, of which 239,714 ARB involved issues related to funds being held in the treasury, delayed distribution, and witch cluster problems. APX later merged with Astherus and rebranded as Aster, with approximately 70% of its assets located on the BNB Chain.According to the proposal, the three projects may defend themselves in the forum post before September 10. If the explanations are not accepted and the funds are not returned, the committee will initiate three separate Snapshot votes to decide whether to permanently ban the relevant projects and founders.

first_img Solana fees hit a record high, SGP-0002 inflation reduction proposal approved

The revenue from fees priced in SOL on Solana reached a seven-day average of nearly 9,200 SOL on August 27, an increase of over 80% compared to three months ago; the non-voting transaction volume also set a new seven-day high of 191 million transactions, compared to only 88 million transactions a year ago. Jito validator tips averaged 2,073 SOL daily over the past week, a 26% increase week-on-week, directly reflecting the increase in on-chain activity.Meanwhile, the SGP-0002 "Dual Deflation" proposal passed last Friday with just over 67% support (the threshold was 66.67%), with a voting participation rate of 60.7%, covering 1,326 validators, setting a historical high for governance participation on the Solana chain. This proposal will double the annual deflation rate from 15% to 30%, expected to reduce the planned issuance by approximately 18.9 million SOL over six years. This means that the new SOL supply entering the market each year will decrease, and the rewards for validators completing the same amount of work will also decline. Staking rewards will drop from about 5.25% to 2.25% in the third year, which will squeeze validators that rely on inflation revenue rather than transaction fees, and many validators may face losses within three years. However, this impact will mainly affect small independent operators, and ordinary users are not expected to experience significant changes in the speed and costs of using the Solana network.

first_img Solana validators approve proposal to accelerate SOL deflation, doubling the annual deflation rate to 30%

Solana validators have voted to approve the "Dual Deflation" proposal numbered SGP-0002, increasing the network's annual deflation rate from 15% to 30%, while maintaining a long-term inflation target of 1.5%. According to the final voting results, the proposal received 67% support, 25.16% opposed, and 7.84% abstained, with a participation rate of 60.7%. The new plan is expected to bring SOL to a terminal inflation rate of 1.5% in about 2.8 years, while the original plan would take approximately 5.7 years, with an expected reduction of about 18.9 million SOL issued over the next six years. This vote marks Solana's first binding governance process, which also approved the proposed Solana Constitution while rejecting another proposal regarding resource and inclusion fees. The positions of major participants have diverged: the largest voter, Figment, holding 17.1 million SOL, cast all opposing votes, while Helius and Jupiter overwhelmingly supported it. The U.S. exchange Kraken briefly cast an opposing vote at 12:33 UTC during the voting process, causing the support rate to dip below the threshold, but ultimately over 90% of its approximately 8.9 million SOL voting position turned to support.Meanwhile, Bitwise's Solana ETF has surpassed $1 billion in assets under management, becoming the first Solana ETF to reach this milestone. According to Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas, U.S. Solana ETFs have seen a cumulative net inflow of about $1.7 billion since their launch, with almost no sustained outflows.

first_img SOL rose over 44% within the month, marking the conclusion of Solana's first on-chain governance vote

SOL has risen over 8% in the past 24 hours, with a cumulative increase of about 44% this month, marking the strongest single-month performance since 2024, with prices returning above $105. This round of increase coincides with the conclusion of the first on-chain binding governance vote for the Solana network, where traders have already priced in expectations of supply contraction this week. This vote includes three Solana governance proposals (SGP). SGP-1 approves the Solana Constitution, formally establishing the future on-chain voting mechanism. SGP-2 (SIMD-550), proposed by Helius engineers, doubles the deflation rate from 15% to 30%, bringing the inflation rate down to the 1.5% lower limit by 2029, reducing the issuance of approximately 18.9 million SOL over the next six years. SGP-3 (SIMD-553), proposed by Temporal, splits transaction fees into a base fee and a resource fee, with the latter being directly burned, and the daily burn amount expected to increase from about 650 SOL to a maximum of 9000 SOL.Both economic proposals require a two-thirds absolute majority of the staked weight to pass. The Nasdaq-listed Solana Company (HSDT) supports the constitutional proposal but opposes the two deflation and burn proposals on the grounds of timing, believing that current institutional stakers value predictable returns more. The voting results are expected to be announced within a few hours after the end of epoch 1023.

first_img Doppler Finance has launched its native token XDP, with a total supply of 10 billion

Doppler Finance announced the launch of the native utility and governance token XDP, serving as the protocol coordination layer, supporting user participation, decentralized governance, and ecological growth. XDP is designed around three main functions: protocol privileges, governance, and future security modules. Users can stake XDP to gain access to premium vaults and strategies, priority for new products, and eligibility to participate in ecological activities; staking details will be announced separately. In terms of governance, XDP holders can participate in decisions regarding protocol parameters, ecological incentive budgets, vault plans, and future functionalities. The security module is planned to be launched in subsequent phases, where eligible users can configure their staked XDP into a coverage pool, assuming corresponding risks to earn additional incentives. The total supply of XDP is 10 billion, with over half allocated to ecological development, vaults, partners, and community growth, while contributors and investors have longer lock-up and vesting arrangements. The XDP genesis airdrop accounts for 1.0%, which will be fully unlocked for early users, contributors, and supporters at TGE; an additional 43% is allocated for ecology and incentives, to support subsequent Doppler Points seasons, XDP staking, and other community programs. The official contract address will only be published through official Doppler channels, and users should be wary of third-party information, phishing websites, and any requests for funds or private keys.

first_img VanEck Research Director: Bitcoin Can Perform Well Under Democratic Governance

Matthew Sigel, the Head of Digital Asset Research at the asset management company VanEck, stated on CNBC that Bitcoin does not need a Republican president to perform well, and former President Biden is not anti-Bitcoin. Sigel pointed out that despite Republicans repeatedly criticizing Democrats for being anti-cryptocurrency, and the regulatory agencies under the Biden administration suing digital asset companies, Bitcoin can still develop healthily under Democratic governance.Sigel also discussed the delay in the legislation of the Clarity Act, which aims to establish a classification framework for digital assets and clarify the regulatory jurisdiction over securities, commodities, or payment stablecoins. Some Republican senators accused Democrats of delaying the legislation, while Coinbase's Chief Policy Officer Faryar Shirzad believes that the opposition mainly comes from older Democrats, and the younger generation better understands technological changes, making cryptocurrency potentially the most bipartisan issue in Washington.Recently, Bitcoin has shown strong price performance, rising nearly 24% in the past seven days, reaching as high as $81,160, and currently retreating to about $78,438. Previously, the Trump administration promoted the establishment of a Bitcoin strategic reserve and issued several executive orders supporting cryptocurrency.

first_img Term Finance permanently closes Meta Vaults after governance attack, resulting in a loss of approximately 8.5 million USD

The development team of Term Finance, Term Labs, announced that after the governance attack incident, all Term Meta Vaults have been permanently closed, DAO governance rights have been revoked, but the withdrawal channel remains open. In an update on August 23, Term stated that this closure is irreversible and permanently prevents subsequent deposits, but did not disclose the scale of the remaining assets in the vault, only indicating that it will "explore pathways" to address any gaps, and the amount that depositors can recover remains undecided.Blockchain security company PeckShield estimates that the attacker stole approximately 2,843 ETH (worth about $6.87 million at the time) and 1.68 million USDC (which was later exchanged for about 1.68 million DAI), with total losses estimated at around $8.5 million. On-chain records confirm the related transfers: one transaction transferred 2,841.74 WETH to an address labeled "Term Finance Exploiter 1" by Etherscan, while another transaction transferred 1.68 million USDC to an address labeled "Term Finance Exploiter 2".Yearn stated that Term's vault contract uses its V3 architecture, but the attack occurred on Term's custom governance wrapper, which is not applicable to standard Yearn vaults. Term indicated that, according to the current investigation, its underlying protocol and direct lending market were not affected and is working with external security teams for remediation and recovery, but did not provide any compensation commitments or timelines.
