first_img TrendForce: The contract price of high-capacity NOR Flash may rise by 90%–110% in the second half of the year

TrendForce's latest research on the memory industry indicates that the NOR Flash market is experiencing the most significant supply-demand structural change in nearly a decade. AI-related products are absorbing a large amount of capacity, and suppliers find it difficult to significantly increase NOR Flash bit output despite the continuous growth in high-end application demand. Therefore, the supply-demand imbalance is expected to persist in the second half of 2026, with overall contract prices remaining high.Although suppliers in Taiwan and China have increased capital expenditures and expanded production, the new capacity cannot be immediately converted into market supply. New output must first go through process migration, yield ramp-up, product certification, and customer design integration, making it difficult to alleviate the supply shortage in the mid-to-high capacity segment in the short term. Winbond expects the strongest bit growth in 2026, driven by the full-scale production of 45nm NOR and the migration to 25nm and 20nm. GigaDevice is upgrading the process for products of 32Mb and above, with effective output limited in the first half of the year. MXIC will prioritize additional 12-inch capacity for NAND and eMMC, limiting the growth of NOR wafer input. In 2026, AI and aerospace communications will become the main sources of new demand. The NOR usage in AI servers is 3-5 times that of traditional servers, with high-density demand driven by edge AI, AI PCs, robotics, and low-orbit satellites. In the first half of 2026, the average cumulative contract price increased by 100-120%. In the second half, the average price of products of 256Mb and above may rise by another 90-110%, while prices for products of 128Mb and below are expected to increase by 10-20% in Q4 2026.

Bonk Guy responded to the controversy over buying EMBER: starting to build a position with a market value of about 7 million USD, optimistic about its Launchpad data growth

ChainCatcher crypto trader Bonk Guy posted on the X platform in response to the recent controversy surrounding his purchase of EMBER and explained his investment logic. Bonk Guy stated that he first noticed the project when EMBER's market cap was about 3 million dollars but did not buy in. After observing for a day due to the rapid growth of platform data, he re-evaluated and bought in from a market cap of about 7 million dollars all the way up to a 20 million dollar market cap.Bonk Guy mentioned that EMBER is the main Launchpad based on Meteora, supporting the use of SOL, USDC, and over 150 tokenized stocks as paired assets for issuing tokens, and employs Meteora Dynamic Bonding Curve technology, while also providing features such as token tax distribution, Daily Jackpots, and DAO governance.According to his disclosure, Ember recorded about 51.7 million dollars in trading volume and 561,000 dollars in fees within 3 days of launch, with a total of 2,041 tokens issued, over 41,800 unique wallet addresses, and 149,000 Solana transactions. Bonk Guy compared his purchase of Ember to his previous trade in PONS, stating that he first saw PONS when its market cap was below 1 million dollars, similarly ignoring it for a whole day, and then began buying in at around a 4 million dollar market cap. Rather than whether a popular token has already emerged, it is more important to observe the real usage data underlying the Launchpad.Additionally, Bonk Guy stated that both Robinhood Chain and BNB Chain have multiple successful Launchpads, and that Solana's meme trading ecosystem has developed over a longer period, so there is no reason to believe that Solana can ultimately only accommodate one successful Launchpad. He also mentioned that his trading decisions are not based on market consensus. Some of his past most successful trades often came from identifying opportunities before the market formed a consensus; by the time everyone recognizes it, the asymmetric upside potential is usually significantly reduced.Regarding the recent controversy, Bonk Guy stated that the claim "EMBER has over 50% of Bubblemaps address clusters" has been clarified by Bubblemaps; his previous statement that Ember "was launched by Meteora" is also inaccurate, with a more accurate description being that Ember is based on Meteora's related infrastructure, which is now included in the Meteora ecosystem page. Bonk Guy emphasized that he has no relationship with the Ember team, and EMBER is a personal trade for him.

first_img OKX launched perpetual contracts for OpenAI and Anthropic's Pre-IPO in Europe

Cryptocurrency exchange OKX announced the launch of Pre-IPO perpetual contracts related to OpenAI and Anthropic in Europe. Eligible traders can go long or short on the valuations of the two AI companies with up to 10 times leverage, but will not receive actual shares of the two companies. This product bets on the valuation changes of the two companies before their IPOs, providing a new speculative avenue for retail investors who find it difficult to directly buy shares of private companies.OKX is not the first platform to launch such products. Hyperliquid has offered markets related to OpenAI and Anthropic through HIP-3, and Binance also provides Pre-IPO perpetual contracts for the two companies. OKX stated that such products are not substitutes for the shares themselves but can meet the ongoing market demand for exposure to large tech companies that have not been publicly listed for a long time.Meanwhile, OKX has also launched 100 tokenized stocks and ETFs, including Nvidia, Alphabet, Palantir, as well as SPY and QQQ, allowing European traders to trade traditional markets around the clock. These tokens track the prices of the underlying securities but do not grant holders actual shares or voting rights, and some tokens can be withdrawn to self-custody wallets. OKX Europe CEO Erald Ghoos stated that the demand for its derivatives business continues to grow, with trading volume for X-Perps in the European market quadrupling since the transition period of MiCA ended in July.
