Galaxy Digital's Q3 net profit reached 323 million USD, and adjusted EBITDA reached 455 million USD

Galaxy Digital released its Q3 2026 financial report, with a net profit of $323 million, turning around from a loss of $85 million in the previous quarter. Adjusted EBITDA reached $455 million, total assets increased by 51% quarter-on-quarter to $16.4 billion, and cash, stablecoins, and U.S. Treasury bonds totaled $4.9 billion, nearly doubling quarter-on-quarter.In terms of digital asset business, trading volume increased by 12% quarter-on-quarter, outperforming the overall spot market. The combined scale of asset management and staking grew by 46% quarter-on-quarter to $10.4 billion, and a multi-year cooperation was established with BNY Mellon to provide staking support for its digital asset custody platform. The data center business saw adjusted EBITDA increase nearly fivefold quarter-on-quarter to $69 million, mainly from the first full operational quarter after the delivery of 133 MW computing power from Helios Phase 1 to CoreWeave. Phase 2 has been fully financed and commenced, with the company completing a $3.5 billion senior secured bond issuance, expanding the overall power pipeline to over 5.7 GW, and the data center is expected to start delivering in Q2 2027.In terms of capital operations, the $200 million repurchase plan initiated by the company in February was completed on October 15, with approximately 9.8 million shares repurchased. The board approved a new $200 million repurchase limit on October 26.

first_img Morgan Stanley: The adjustment of chip stocks has entered its final stage, with a year-end target of 8000 points for the S&P 500

Morgan Stanley's Chief Equity Strategist Mike Wilson stated that despite the cooling enthusiasm for artificial intelligence trading and recent pressure on U.S. stocks, he maintains his forecast for the S&P 500 index to close at 8000 points by the end of the year. Morgan Stanley has set a tactical downside target for the S&P 500 at 7100 to 7200 points, slightly below the 200-day moving average, while the basic year-end target remains at 8000 points. Wilson noted that several upcoming clearing events, including the midterm elections, should mark the end of the current stock market adjustment.Wilson is relatively cautious about the semiconductor sector, believing that support levels may be significantly lower than current levels, but selling pressure may ease next month. The strategy team stated that as the market questions the timing and scale of revenue realization related to artificial intelligence, the semiconductor and other capital expenditure beneficiary sectors have become the epicenter of financing concerns; there are new doubts about the cost of capital for some participants and whether the credit market can provide sufficient funds to support related expenditures, as governments and non-AI-related capital expenditures are also competing for funds. The team indicated that given the possibility of more financing plans in the future, it is normal for the market to focus on the supply side, but this concern will persist until financing is completed. The five-year credit default swaps of the highly leveraged new cloud service provider CoreWeave closed above 1100 basis points last week, implying a default probability of about 50% on its debt within five years. Wilson's team believes that the adjustment in the semiconductor sector has entered its final stage, expecting this round of adjustment to end by mid-November; however, based on technical analysis and comparisons with the once-hot silver market, the sector may decline another 10% to 15% from current levels, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index potentially dipping to around 9500 points. Last week, the Nasdaq Composite Index fell a cumulative 0.7%, with a total decline of over 5% in the past two weeks; on Monday, Anthropic's public IPO prospectus boosted the AI sector, leading chip stocks to rise, and the Nasdaq Composite Index increased by 0.82%, closing at 26169.38 points.

first_img Bitcoin Core adjusts vulnerability disclosure policy to address AI vulnerability exploitation

Bitcoin core developer Antoine Poinsot announced an adjustment to the security vulnerability disclosure policy in the Bitcoin development mailing list. He stated that in the past, vulnerabilities were often kept secret for a long time to allow users to complete upgrades before details were made public, but this also led to fixes not being backported to older versions, requiring users to wait for the next major release. Poinsot pointed out that large language models make some vulnerabilities very easy to rediscover, and the protection that continued delays in fixing can provide is now quite limited.According to the new policy, vulnerabilities deemed "easy to discover" will be fixed as soon as possible in all maintained major versions, with security announcements released simultaneously. This classification applies to vulnerabilities that can be discovered with minimal effort, such as through simple LLM prompts. Other vulnerabilities will still follow the disclosure timeline based on severity: low-severity vulnerabilities will be disclosed two weeks after the major release containing the fix; medium to high-severity vulnerabilities will be disclosed two weeks after the last affected version reaches its end of life (usually one year after the fix is released in a new major version). Critical vulnerabilities are not covered by the standard policy and may require ad hoc procedures.Bitcoin ecosystem security researcher Luke de Wolf stated that he previously disagreed with Poinsot's security strategy but believes this update is a good adjustment. In August of this year, the volunteer-based Bitcoin Red Team reported nearly 5,000 potential issues across 390 projects, with only about one-fifth being reproducible at that time. In the same month, Core Lightning developers urged operators to upgrade or take nodes offline after receiving multiple AI-generated vulnerability reports, while keeping technical details confidential for two weeks.

first_img Aster delisted the PAPER perpetual contract before the market opened, adjusting it to a mode of only reducing positions

The decentralized perpetual contract trading platform Aster announced that, in light of recent developments related to PAPER and potential market risks, it has adjusted the pre-market perpetual contract for PAPER to a liquidation-only mode and plans to officially delist the contract at 9:45 AM Beijing time on October 20. Aster recommends that users holding open positions proactively close their positions before the delisting, calling this a precautionary measure to manage market risks and maintain trading order.Previously, Papertrade stated that there are currently no plans to allow external transfers of the PAPER token and will adjust short-term trading fees and the token issuance curve. The team believes that the PAPER perpetual contract could make the liquidity pool's solvency a target for short selling, and external short exposure may increase the profit potential for manipulation attacks, as these markets are not controlled by the protocol.Papertrade founder Jez also pointed out that due to the rapid progress of the perpetual contract market, PAPER is currently set to a non-transferable status to avoid potential attack risks and maintain the long-term healthy development of the protocol. Jez emphasized that PAPER represents users' rights to the protocol's earnings, and its long-term value depends on whether Papertrade can continue to attract traders. The team made this risk management choice based on the operational data from the first week after the protocol's launch.
