The United States and the United Kingdom announced the establishment of the first joint law enforcement alliance aimed at combating fraud centers involving cryptocurrency and online investment scams. The U.S. Department of Justice stated that the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia, the UK Crown Prosecution Service, and the UK's National Crime Agency have signed a memorandum of understanding to conduct parallel investigations on common objectives, share intelligence on organized crime groups, and negotiate jurisdictional prosecution rights for specific cases. This alliance expands upon the "Fraud Center Task Force" initiated by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro in November 2025, focusing on Chinese organized crime networks primarily located in Southeast Asia that are involved in cryptocurrency investment scams, which are often linked to human trafficking and money laundering. The task force includes the FBI, U.S. Secret Service, IRS Criminal Investigation Division, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Department of Justice, and collaborates with the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the State Department, and private enterprises to dismantle fraud operations and recover victims' funds. The U.S. Department of Justice pointed out that losses reported due to cryptocurrency investment scams in the U.S. continue to rise, with losses reported to the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center increasing from $4.57 billion in 2023 to $8.65 billion in 2025. Previously, international law enforcement agencies had conducted joint operations, with a raid led by Dubai police on April 29, involving the FBI and the Chinese Ministry of Public Security, resulting in the arrest of 276 individuals and the closure of at least 9 cryptocurrency scam centers. Several Southeast Asian countries are also strengthening domestic legislation, with Myanmar's military government releasing a draft on May 15 proposing a 10-year to life imprisonment for digital currency fraud, and the death penalty if a victim dies due to being coerced to work at a scam center; this bill was passed by parliament on July 28.

The U.S. Department of Justice announced that it has seized over $560,000 in cryptocurrency originally intended to fund Hamas and has taken control of the domain names and servers used by the organization for fundraising and recruiting supporters. The Department of Justice released five affidavits along with the announcement on Wednesday, three of which were signed on March 25, June 25, and October 10, 2025, regarding the seizure order for the aforementioned $560,000 in cryptocurrency.According to court documents, investigators identified and tracked rotating cryptocurrency addresses promoted through encrypted group chats and fundraising websites with the help of human intelligence sources. The first actions recovered approximately $201,400 from wallets and accounts, which have transferred over $1.5 million since October 2024, with the related addresses allegedly controlled by Hamas's military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades.Additionally, the FBI seized the domain name and servers used to operate the organization's main website Alqassam.ps, allowing them to intercept subsequent cryptocurrency donations. The Department of Justice stated that this operation enabled investigators to obtain information on thousands of individuals who contacted Hamas-related platforms, attempting to donate via cryptocurrency or traditional payment methods.

The US FBI, in collaboration with multiple countries, has dismantled several "pig butchering" cryptocurrency scam networks, involving amounts totaling millions of dollars

According to Fox News, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has collaborated with law enforcement agencies in Dubai, China, and Thailand to conduct a large-scale multinational joint law enforcement operation, successfully dismantling at least 9 overseas cryptocurrency scam centers, resulting in the arrest of 276 suspects, with the amount involved reaching millions of dollars. In this operation, the U.S. District Court in San Diego has filed federal telecommunications fraud and money laundering charges against 6 suspects, including individuals from Myanmar and Indonesia, whose scam organizations operated under names such as "Sanduo Group" and "Giant Company." Dubai police arrested 275 suspects, while the Royal Thai Police separately apprehended 1 fugitive. The aforementioned scam network employed a "pig butchering" technique, gaining the trust of victims through fabricated friendships or romantic relationships, luring them to transfer funds to fake cryptocurrency investment platforms, and then laundering the money and transferring it to criminal accounts. This operation aligns with the executive order signed by Trump on March 6, 2026, aimed at combating overseas criminal networks that exploit U.S. citizens. The FBI's "Operation Level Up" has notified approximately 9,000 victims, recovering about $562 million in losses for U.S. citizens. The FBI urges victims to report through the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3).
