According to a report from the Beijing Daily client, the Market Supervision Administration of Haidian District, Beijing, investigated and handled the city's first illegal case of assisting pyramid schemes using blockchain and virtual currency technology, resulting in a technology company being fined and confiscated a total of over 930,000 yuan. The technology company involved is an outsourcing service provider for a certain public blockchain, offering support such as operations, market services, publicity and promotion, exchange docking, and maintenance. This public blockchain launched the "Atomic Plan" and "Hathaway Plan," which are centered around recruiting people for rebates, using the number of recruited individuals as the basis for rebates, and requiring participants to invest funds to obtain membership qualifications. Despite being aware of the pyramid scheme applications associated with this public blockchain, the involved company continued to provide technical operations, external publicity, and maintenance of virtual currency trading channels, facilitating the flow of funds and the spread of activities related to the pyramid scheme.Ultimately, the pyramid scheme activities of this public blockchain were investigated by public security authorities, the organizers were criminally detained, and the involved technology company was administratively punished with a total fine and confiscation of over 930,000 yuan for providing facilitative conditions.

first_img The Chinese prosecution seeks to confiscate over 61,800 bitcoins in the case of Qian Zhimin

According to CoinDesk citing The Paper, Chinese prosecutors are seeking to confiscate over 61,800 bitcoins and other assets related to a fraud case involving more than 40 billion yuan. The case revolves around Qian Zhimin, the actual controller of Tianjin Lantian Ge Rui Electronic Technology. Prosecutors stated that from 2014 to 2017, the company sold unlicensed financial products in China, raising over 40.378 billion yuan from more than 102,000 investors, resulting in nearly 20 billion yuan in losses for investors. The related funds were reportedly used to repay early investors, operate fraudulent investment projects, and purchase bitcoins, real estate, cars, and jewelry, rather than being invested in legitimate businesses. Qian Zhimin fled China in 2017 and settled in the UK. UK authorities have seized his assets, including over 61,800 bitcoins, as well as Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Gold, Bitcoin SV, Ripple, Dogecoin, cash, jewelry, and investment holdings. On October 13, the Tianjin Second Intermediate People's Court stated that it has accepted the prosecutors' application to confiscate the aforementioned assets as illegal gains and has initiated a six-month announcement period for victims and stakeholders to participate in the litigation; those who do not participate can still apply for compensation regarding the recovery of assets. Previously, the UK High Court ruled that for the over 61,000 bitcoins seized in the UK, victims claimed that Chinese law should apply rather than UK law. This ruling requires determining whether victims have property rights under Chinese law, and a hearing will be held subsequently, with some victim lawyers seeking to appeal.

BlackRock and Deutsche Bank CEOs say the fiscal deficit is more urgent than the AI bubble

According to Bloomberg, financial executives have differing opinions on whether AI has become a bubble. Ken Griffin previously warned that AI investors are almost certainly in a bubble and should prepare for setbacks, stating that significant economic transformations are often accompanied by bubbles. Recently, the market has been concerned that the time it takes for the massive upfront capital expenditures in AI to translate into profits and productivity gains may be longer than expected. Deutsche Bank CEO Christian Sewing stated that there is no reason to worry about a sharp reversal in asset prices in the short term; individual companies may face setbacks, but he does not believe the market is in a bursting bubble.Sewing distinguished between a bubble and ongoing volatility, mentioning geopolitical tensions. He stated that if the regulatory framework is appropriate, the industrial application of AI will become a century opportunity for Germany. BlackRock CEO Larry Fink advocated for accelerating the construction of AI data centers, warning that delays could threaten economic growth and exacerbate inflation due to high computing costs. He previously mentioned that AI faces a supply shortage, with demand growth exceeding expectations, and stated that the faster more data centers are built and more computing power is available, the quicker costs can be reduced.Federated Hermes Chief Investment Officer for Global Equities Steve Chiavarone said that investors worried about an AI bubble may be correct in their judgment, but it is several years too early; infrastructure still has several years of growth potential, after which the risk of overbuilding will become more pressing. The market is still differentiating which companies can secure funding and at what interest rates, which is contrary to the bubble period.Compared to the AI bubble, both Fink and Sewing view the fiscal deficit as a more pressing concern, especially as the AI industry competes with the government for investment funds. The U.S. fiscal deficit is nearing $2 trillion, and U.S. Treasury yields have risen to decades-high levels.Fink stated that the current level of capital competition is the highest he has seen in his career. Regarding the rising risk of French government bonds, Sewing said it cannot yet be called a debt crisis, but it serves as a warning for public finances, emphasizing the importance of budget discipline.

Qian Zhiming's 40 billion illegal fundraising case update: the prosecution has applied to confiscate over 61,800 bitcoins and other assets, and the court has accepted the case

According to a report by The Paper, the case of Qian Zhimin, involving over 40 billion yuan in illegal fundraising and more than 60,000 bitcoins, has seen new developments in domestic judicial procedures. The Tianjin Second Intermediate People's Court announced that it has accepted the Tianjin People's Procuratorate Second Branch's application to confiscate the illegal gains of the suspect Qian Zhimin as of September 28.According to the property confiscation list published by the Tianjin Second Intermediate Court, in addition to bitcoins, the involved virtual currencies also include 72,745.79502 bitcoins cash, 72,745.78555 bitcoins gold, 72,745.7845 bitcoins Satoshi Vision, 3,605,989.9995 ripples, and 70,081,208.62553222 dogecoins (which have been converted and deposited into an interest-bearing account by British judicial authorities). Additionally, the confiscated assets also include cash in US dollars, euros, and British pounds, jewelry, as well as bank balances and investment portfolios. The Tianjin People's Procuratorate Second Branch believes that Qian Zhimin is suspected of fundraising fraud, and after fleeing, he has been wanted for a year without appearing in court. There is evidence proving that over 61,800 bitcoins and other assets seized in the UK belong to illegal gains and their proceeds, and should be recovered along with the transformed and converted properties and proceeds, except for those legally returned to the harmed fundraising participants, which should be confiscated.

Micron Technology CFO: Revenue for the first fiscal quarter of fiscal year 2027 will reach 61.5 billion USD

Micron Technology (MU.O) Chief Financial Officer Mark Murphy stated during the earnings call that revenue for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027 will reach $61.5 billion, with earnings per share of $38.15, continuing to rise quarter-over-quarter, and clearly pointed out that this quarter will be the low point for gross margin for the entire fiscal year 2027, after which gross margins are expected to gradually recover in subsequent quarters.Micron has currently signed 26 long-term agreements, locking in approximately $150 billion in long-term orders. The supply and demand in the storage market for 2027 and 2028 will be tighter than in 2026, and "there is no end in sight for the restoration of supply and demand balance."Micron Technology (MU.O) expects capital expenditures for the first half of fiscal year 2027 to be around $25 billion, with higher spending in the second half, and most of the incremental spending will be for new wafer fabrication plants (construction expenditures) rather than purely for equipment procurement. Micron Technology CFO Mark Murphy explained that this is entirely because long-term contracts provide sufficient demand visibility, and new greenfield factories require a very long lead time.Additionally, Micron Technology Chief Financial Officer Mark Murphy also mentioned during the earnings call that in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2026, Micron Technology generated an impressive $44 billion in operating cash flow and $33.2 billion in free cash flow.As time goes on, we expect to return 100% of excess cash to shareholders. We plan to begin increasing capital returns starting December 9, 2026 (the second anniversary of our signing of the final agreement for the CHIPS Act), primarily through stock buybacks.
