first_img Micron grants the highest bonuses in history, and the Taiwan union states it will continue to push for strikes

Micron announced today that it will distribute 2026 fiscal year bonuses to over 60,000 employees worldwide to acknowledge the company's achievements this year, marking the highest bonuses in Micron's history. Taiwan is a key hub for Micron's global technology leadership, with approximately 15,000 employees and a cumulative investment of over NT$1.6 trillion. In Taiwan, the 2026 fiscal year bonuses include a NT$1 million cash bonus for each employee who joins before August 29, 2025, with subsequent hires receiving bonuses proportionate to their duration of employment; an annual performance bonus that can reach up to 500% of the basic target; and additional stock awards. Production line employees in Taiwan will receive total compensation equivalent to 35 to 68 months of salary. The cash compensation for Micron's employees in Taiwan for the 2026 fiscal year will start at NT$1.7 million; entry-level engineers will have an average cash compensation of NT$2.9 million, with an average total compensation of NT$3.4 million after including stock awards calculated at grant value. The annual performance adjustment stock awards will cover 100%.Regarding Micron's announcement without reaching a consensus with the union, the union stated after collecting member opinions: grassroots members demand institutional reform and equal negotiation, calling for a change in the IPP profit-sharing system to a 15% profit-sharing system, stating that one-time bonuses cannot resolve the issue, and expressing the hope to establish a calculation basis directly linked to the company's actual profits. If there is no response, the union will continue to move towards a strike. The Ministry of Labor stated that it has fully grasped the relevant information and is maintaining close contact with the Taoyuan City Government, the Central Taiwan Science Park Administration, and the Taichung City Government.

first_img The Arbitrum Committee plans to permanently ban three grant abuse projects

The Watchdog Committee of the Arbitrum ecosystem (composed of Entropy Advisors and others) submitted a proposal to the governance forum on September 3, requesting a permanent ban on the projects Good Entry, Limitless, and APX Finance, as well as their founders, prohibiting their participation in all future ArbitrumDAO initiatives. The committee determined that these three projects engaged in grant abuse within the STIP and LTIPP incentive programs, involving a total amount of 457,553 ARB (approximately $76,000).Specifically, Good Entry received 200,000 ARB in the first round of STIP, of which 142,839 ARB flowed to 1,032 ineligible users, and there is evidence of self-farming by associated addresses, with the team refusing to cooperate with the investigation; Limitless exchanged all 75,000 ARB for USDC and cross-chain to Base, being classified as suspected theft; APX Finance was approved for 525,000 ARB, of which 239,714 ARB involved issues related to funds being held in the treasury, delayed distribution, and witch cluster problems. APX later merged with Astherus and rebranded as Aster, with approximately 70% of its assets located on the BNB Chain.According to the proposal, the three projects may defend themselves in the forum post before September 10. If the explanations are not accepted and the funds are not returned, the committee will initiate three separate Snapshot votes to decide whether to permanently ban the relevant projects and founders.

The Hyper Foundation grants approximately 10 million USD to support the USDH exit migration, covering HIP-1, 3, and HyperEVM ecological projects

The Hyper Foundation announced that it will provide approximately $10 million in grants to developers affected by the USDH exit, to cover migration costs and support an orderly transition of the ecosystem. This round of funding will be allocated to affected HIP-1 spot deployers, HIP-3 perpetual contract deployers, HyperEVM protocol, USDH:USDC cross-chain bridge, and other ecosystem participants.Among them, migration grants are aimed at teams migrating USDH-related markets or deployments to USDC; while exit grants are for projects that choose to terminate USDH-related businesses, with amounts lower than equivalent migration plans, to encourage a smooth conclusion of the ecosystem. HIP-1 and HIP-3 grants are based on auction deployment cost estimates, while HyperEVM grants are assessed based on the scale of USDH TVL affected. All beneficiaries must complete migration or business closure by the end of July.On the user side, USDH holders need to operate according to the guidelines of each protocol and can complete the exchange to USDC through the spot market or HyperEVM path. The official has provided support for asset conversion with no fees or spot trading channels. The Hyper Foundation also stated that the USDH migration is progressing smoothly, thanks to the active cooperation of developers and the community, and expressed gratitude to the relevant builders.

The U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee's cryptocurrency bill grants new powers to the CFTC, but key issues remain unresolved

According to The Block, the U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee has released a draft legislation for regulating the cryptocurrency industry, granting new powers to the CFTC.Previously, the House had passed the Digital Asset Market Transparency Act in July, and the Senate subsequently began drafting its own related legislation. The draft proposed by the Republican-led Senate Banking Committee aims to delineate the jurisdiction between the SEC and the CFTC, introducing the new concept of "ancillary assets" to clarify which cryptocurrencies do not fall under the category of securities. Given that the Senate Agriculture Committee has jurisdiction over the CFTC, the draft it proposed is particularly crucial. This 155-page draft defines digital commodities and establishes a regulatory framework for the CFTC.Draft author Cory Booker stated that more work needs to be done, particularly concerning concerns about CFTC's insufficient resources and potential regulatory arbitrage due to bipartisan committee issues, as well as issues related to public corruption and the adequacy of regulatory measures. The Agriculture Committee's draft provides new funding sources for the CFTC, indicating that the CFTC should charge unspecified cryptocurrency entities. The parentheses in the draft reflect "unresolved issues" that still need to be negotiated by both sides. Additionally, Democrats face obstacles related to conflicts of interest in Trump's cryptocurrency business, and the Agriculture Committee's draft already includes provisions regarding conflicts of interest.
