first_img Safe Q2 transaction volume reached a record nearly 130 million, with continued compound growth in smart account usage

According to the Q2 2026 report released by the Safe Ecosystem Foundation on Wednesday, Safe smart accounts processed nearly 130 million transactions in the second quarter, setting a quarterly historical record with a 5.7% quarter-over-quarter growth. The total number of accounts reached 63.4 million, a year-on-year increase of 20%, and the monthly active accounts in June rose to 2.73 million. The transaction volume in April alone reached 55.4 million, the highest in history. The quarterly transfer amount reached $39.3 billion, a year-on-year increase of 8%, and the self-custodied assets at the end of the quarter amounted to $27.24 billion (including $6.48 billion in stablecoins), with project revenue of $1.98 million, a year-on-year increase of 42%.Co-founder Lukas Schor stated that Safe is evolving from a mere asset holding tool to a broader range of use cases, with usage continuing to grow at a compound rate in a weak market. The Safenet Beta, launched on April 2, attracted 54.8 million SAFE staked (with 539 stakers) in its first quarter and has checked over 500,000 transactions, operated by six validators including Greenfield and Gnosis. Additionally, after the KelpDAO attack incident, Aave-led DeFi United coordinated approximately $300 million through Safe smart accounts to help restore rsETH support, with over 142,000 wallets participating. The SAFE token rose 4.2% in the past 24 hours.

Trade.xyz announces full compensation for the abnormal liquidation event of the Hynix contract and accelerates the reform of the pricing mechanism

Trade.xyz issued a statement regarding the SK Hynix contract price spike incident: On July 27 at 23:01 UTC, the marked price of SK Hynix tokens plummeted from $1,127.9 to $917.25, triggering a large number of long position liquidations. This price originated from an actual transaction captured by multiple independent data providers, with the external venue being a major pre-market in South Korea. Its oracle system operates according to established specifications, synchronously tracking prices from external exchanges, functioning "as designed" on a technical level. However, the platform acknowledges that user dissatisfaction with the liquidations triggered by this event is understandable, emphasizing that "market integrity is the core value of Trade.xyz." To address this, Trade.xyz has decided to cover all liquidation losses caused by this price anomaly on a one-time discretionary basis. Specific eligibility requirements will be announced soon, with compensation expected to be completed within a few days, but it clearly states that this decision "does not constitute a guarantee for similar situations in the future." At the mechanism level, the platform will accelerate the review of pricing methods— including reassessing the assumptions of reliance on external venues and giving greater weight to its own order book price discovery (its order book depth and signal strength have significantly improved compared to external sources) to more effectively handle tail events.

hot_img Visa and Artemis jointly released the Smart Payment Report: The x402 protocol processed $15 million in transactions in its first year, accelerating the arrival of the AI micro-payment era

Visa and the on-chain data analysis platform Artemis previously jointly released the report "Agentic Payments from the Ground Up," which quantifies the trends of AI agent payments based on real-time on-chain data. The report points out that intelligent commerce should be divided into macro transactions (AI agents completing bookings, subscriptions, etc., adapting to existing card systems) and micro payments (high-frequency small payments between machines, with individual transactions far below $1, which traditional payment structures struggle to support). The report focuses on two "machine-native payment" protocols: x402 (developed by Coinbase, Cloudflare, etc., launching in May 2025) with an adjusted transaction volume of approximately $15 million and 109.6 million transactions as of April 21, 2026, with 422,000 buyers and about 5,300 sellers, primarily concentrated on Base, Solana, and Polygon, settled in USDC; MPP (developed by Stripe and Tempo, with Visa's participation, launching in mid-March 2026) had a transaction volume of approximately $25,000 and 115,000 transactions within 33 days of launch, supporting both on-chain crypto payments and fiat settlements. The report believes that the leap in AI capabilities (with the release of Claude 4.5 and GPT Codex 5.2 in mid-2025) has created a demand for programmatic payments, combined with the decreasing costs of blockchain settlements, making micro payments in the range of 1 cent to 1 dollar economically viable for the first time. Currently, the boundaries between crypto-native protocols and card payment camps are gradually blurring, but agent payments still face trust challenges such as erroneous purchases, adversarial attacks, and liability attribution.

hot_img Academy of Social Sciences Expert: Changxin Technology's overseas on-chain transactions may weaken the domestic capital market's dominance in pricing technology assets

According to Caixin, Zhao Yao, a special researcher at the Payment and Clearing Research Center of the Financial Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, stated that recent offshore digital asset platforms have launched on-chain trading products around Chinese technology companies such as Changxin Technology. This indicates that global digital financial platforms are creating trading exposure around high-quality Chinese technology assets, organizing price expectations, trading liquidity, and cross-border capital entry in advance. Although these products do not correspond to A-share equity, they are synthetic perpetual contracts or pre-market perpetual contracts settled in stablecoins such as USDC and USDT. However, if offshore platforms take the lead in forming a continuous trading market for technology assets, it may weaken the pricing dominance of domestic capital markets over technology assets.Zhao Yao suggested accelerating the construction of digital financial infrastructure for the renminbi, promoting the coordinated development of tokenized deposits by commercial banks, wholesale CBDC, and tokenization of technology assets, and exploring pilot projects for technology asset tokenization in Hong Kong to enhance the capital organization capability and international pricing power of the renminbi in global technology financial competition.

Coinbase CEO refutes the argument that crypto enthusiasts should turn to AI, stating that cryptocurrency is an indispensable universal infrastructure

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong tweeted in response to the viewpoint "If you're in the cryptocurrency space, turn to AI," stating that this is a flawed way of thinking and a zero-sum game mentality. Brian Armstrong emphasized that cryptocurrency is a universal technology, an infrastructure, just like electricity or the internet. It does not compete with the next hot technology because it supports the latter. It is "both-and," not "either-or." Artificial intelligence, as a major trend, does not diminish the importance of cryptocurrency. On the contrary, it makes cryptocurrency even more important.AI agents require their own financial infrastructure, and ultimately their daily trading volume will far exceed the total of all human trading volumes. They cannot open bank accounts, cannot wait three days to receive remittances, and they cannot reside in just one country. They need real-time programmable money (which is exactly what cryptocurrency is). Agents need to hold funds and make payments themselves. Coinbase was the first to launch the x402 protocol, Base, and USDC, which now support the vast majority of payments for agents. Agents will also participate in trading and act as financial advisors. They will raise or borrow funds for ongoing new projects. They will also save users from the tedious tasks of tax planning, portfolio rebalancing, and bill payments.

Zilliqa Ledger application exposes serious vulnerability, signing 5 native transactions may leak private keys

Zilliqa stated that there is a serious random number generation vulnerability in the Zilliqa Ledger application, affecting the Schnorr signatures of native non-EVM Zilliqa transactions. Attackers can recover the signer's private key from the biased temporary random numbers using only publicly available on-chain data.Any account that has signed and broadcasted about 5 or more native transactions through the Zilliqa Ledger application should be considered compromised. Since the related signatures are permanently recorded on the chain, subsequent updates to the application cannot eliminate the risk, and the affected private keys must be deactivated. EVM transactions and development tools such as zilliqa-js, gozilliqa-sdk, and pyzil are not affected. The vulnerability arises from the application selecting the wrong 32 bytes when copying the random number, retaining 8 bytes of zero padding and losing 8 bytes of entropy, resulting in each random number having a maximum of 64 bits fixed to zero. Attackers can use 5 or more affected signatures to recover the private key within seconds using ordinary hardware. Zilliqa observed suspected active exploitation on July 19 and confirmed the root cause on July 21.Zilliqa has suspended native transactions to prevent further loss of funds and is preparing a revised application with Ledger. However, the revised version cannot protect the exposed keys, and affected users should not transfer assets on their own but wait for the official announcement of a coordinated disposal plan.
