first_img Coinbase Co-CEO: The second wave of institutional funds for Bitcoin has arrived

Coinbase Institutional Co-CEO Brett Tejpaul stated in an interview that the "second wave" of institutional funds for Bitcoin has arrived. He revealed that the seven largest banks in the world are currently operating on Coinbase's infrastructure and are experiencing their own "Kodak moment," as these banks begin to move funds from traditional accounts to on-chain settlements.Tejpaul indicated that the core driver of institutional adoption has shifted from Bitcoin ETFs to stablecoin payments. Funds can now be transferred from Citibank accounts to USDC, cross-chain in a second, and then enter corporate accounts on the other side. He disclosed that the scale of stablecoin settlements has reached $400 million per hour, but relative to the overall payment market, it is still just "a speck of dust," with payment service providers adopting it on a large scale ahead of banks. Additionally, Coinbase is connecting U.S. funds to Deribit, which holds 85% of the options market share. When discussing Bitcoin, Tejpaul believes the macro environment is good, but the price performance is disappointing, and institutions currently view it as a tech-related trade. He also mentioned that stablecoins and agency-style commerce have arrived almost simultaneously, and Coinbase is advancing a transformation from "Amazon to AWS" to activate infrastructure across the United States, disclosing that it holds about 90% of the market share in Bitcoin ETF custody.

first_img Blockstream executive Peter Bain: Institutional clients are optimistic about the Bitcoin bull market

Blockstream Chief Marketing Officer Peter Bain stated in a recent interview that Bitcoin has maintained the $81,000 mark amid stock market sell-offs, rising 10-year U.S. Treasury yields, and turmoil in Europe, which he described as "a very, very strong signal." He made this statement during a conversation with Grace Remington and Sean Hagan.Bain emphasized that technological development precedes price and discussed topics such as adoption, stablecoins, and tokenized stocks. He introduced Blockstream's new center established in Lugano and a new consulting department aimed at institutional clients, while explaining why treasury companies are mainly concentrated in the United States and why Switzerland will become the next market—Switzerland's clear regulatory framework and strong banking foundation make it an ideal launch market.Regarding quantum computing, Bain believes that the related threats will take decades to materialize, and that Bitcoin's real weaknesses lie elsewhere. He referenced the PHP vulnerability incident, stating that the industry needs to rethink the way software is released, and introduced Blockstream's research on quantum-resistant signature solutions, how consensus can be reached for quantum upgrades, and the Bitcoin Security Alliance. Additionally, he provided the first update on the Liquid Network event progress: the exchange service has been restored, the network is back online, and users can transfer Bitcoin back to the main chain. Looking ahead to 2027, Bain stated that institutional clients believe Bitcoin "is expected to usher in a major bull market."

Bitget deepens its RWA strategic layout, building an institutional-level liquidity framework with Super Match

According to official news from Bitget, the platform announced an upgrade to its RWA strategy, further expanding its tokenized stock business from asset trading access to institutional-level liquidity infrastructure construction. This upgrade introduces the Super Match Engine, breaking through the traditional single model of direct connection to brokers, adopting an internal matching priority mechanism, and providing market makers with lower latency trade execution, clearer liquidity distribution, and more efficient capital utilization through exclusive quoting channels and layered depth market data. At the same time, Super Match supports differentiated order processing and market services to meet the diverse trading and operational needs of institutional traders.Previously, Bitget launched the rToken US stock transfer function on October 13, supporting over 3,000 US stocks and ETFs. Users can transfer eligible stock assets from traditional brokerage accounts to Bitget, and once the stocks are credited, they will be automatically converted into US stock spot rTokens based on the corresponding number of shares. On this basis, relying on the Super Match framework, the efficiency of US stock trading will be continuously enhanced.Bitget CEO Gracy Chen stated that the next phase of tokenized asset development is crucial for bridging the asset and liquidity channels between traditional finance and the digital asset market. Bitget will continue to improve cross-market trading infrastructure, promote the application of rToken in scenarios such as spot trading, lending, margin, and asset management, enhance asset liquidity and capital efficiency, and deepen the strategic layout of the panoramic exchange (UEX).

first_img Matter Labs launched Prividium Commander to support the implementation of banking blockchain

Alex Gluchowski, CEO of Matter Labs, announced Prividium Commander at Money20/20 USA, pointing out that while most banks have tested blockchain, only a few have truly put it into production services. The crux of the issue lies in operational processes rather than the technology itself, including aspects such as issuance control, transfer processing, audit requirements, and compliance workflows.Prividium Commander is positioned as a unified control plane, allowing institutions to manage permissions, configure token functionalities, and set operational strategies all in one place, while also integrating with existing traditional financial systems of banks and being compatible with both public and private chain infrastructures. This product is built on Matter Labs' permissioned privacy blockchain platform, Prividium, which is based on ZK Stack technology, allowing institutions to run private chains on their own infrastructure and anchor transactions to Ethereum through zero-knowledge proofs, achieving Ethereum-level settlement finality without disclosing customer balances and transaction details.Matter Labs open-sourced the Prividium Core permission engine in September 2026, with the Deutsche Bundesbank being the first testing party. Cari Network has chosen Prividium to build a multi-bank tokenized deposit platform, with participants including regional banks such as Huntington and M&T Bank, planning to go live later in 2026. By mid-2026, Matter Labs had fully shifted its focus to the institutional privacy infrastructure of Prividium.

Deutsche Sparkasse enters the cryptocurrency trading field, with the first batch of institutional clients able to buy and sell crypto assets directly through the App

According to a confirmation from the German Savings Banks and Giro Association (DSGV) to the media, the German Savings Banks (Sparkassen) officially entered the cryptocurrency trading sector this Monday. Institutional clients participating in the first batch can now directly buy and sell digital assets such as Bitcoin through their existing official app.The trading service launched is supported by the securities service provider of the savings banks, Dekabank, and is jointly responsible for the custody of crypto assets with the Stuttgart Stock Exchange. The initial supported trading currencies include Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, Solana, and Polygon. In terms of fees, the service sets a low transaction fee of only 0.99 euros per order, and users are not required to bind a traditional securities account, which is clearly aimed at competing directly on pricing with emerging mobile banks like N26 and Trade Republic. In terms of the promotion schedule, the service does not have a unified national launch date but allows each savings bank to decide its own launch time based on its circumstances. Joachim Schmalzl, a member of the DSGV management, stated that there is strong interest in this business within the group, and it is expected that 30 to 40 institutions will follow suit each month, with the goal of covering most interested savings banks by the first half of 2027. He emphasized that the product is mainly aimed at clients who wish to independently buy, sell, and custody crypto assets, and the savings banks do not provide investment advice nor plan to conduct extensive proactive marketing in the initial phase. For a long time, due to the extreme volatility of cryptocurrencies, the German Savings Banks have maintained a cautious attitude towards them. Schmalzl pointed out that the decision to enter the market was the result of careful consideration, with the decisive factors being strong customer demand and the fact that Europe currently has a reliable regulatory framework, aimed at allowing clients with clear intentions to trade in a regulated compliance environment. However, DSGV still maintains a cautious tone in its statement, reiterating that cryptocurrencies are "highly speculative assets," and clients will be clearly warned of the risks of extreme price fluctuations and total loss when operating. The bank also emphasizes that for the long-term wealth accumulation of the public, traditional securities investments, savings plans, and financial consulting remain its core business.
