Liang Wenfeng is dissatisfied with the leak of the 4-hour internal speech, and DeepSeek announced the suspension of the second round of financing

According to Bloomberg, DeepSeek announced the suspension of its second round of financing and verbally notified some potential investors that it would not sign investment agreements as expected. This suspension partly stems from founder Liang Wenfeng's dissatisfaction with the leak of a 4-hour internal transcript during its first financing deal, where he made 52 statements in an investor meeting regarding DeepSeek's organizational culture, open-source logic, technology roadmap, and views on the competitive landscape of the industry. The nearly 4-hour meeting record recently went viral on social media, including statements such as "The biggest gap between China and the U.S. in AI is computing power resources." Both DeepSeek and Liang Wenfeng have not confirmed the authenticity of the leaked record.DeepSeek stated that it may still choose to resume the transaction process in the future and has begun preparations for an initial public offering, with the IPO potentially being filed as early as this year.DeepSeek completed its first round of external financing in June 2026, raising over 50 billion yuan, approximately 7.4 billion dollars, with a post-investment valuation of about 50-59 billion dollars. It adopted a special structure, with most funds entering a limited partnership managed by Liang Wenfeng, where investors have no voting rights and are locked in for 5 years. Liang Wenfeng himself contributed about 20 billion yuan as the largest contributor, with participation from Tencent, CATL, JD.com, NetEase, and the Chinese National AI Fund. DeepSeek subsequently initiated discussions for its second round of financing in mid-July, targeting a valuation of about 71 billion dollars.

Binance Co-CEO: After the suspension of services in the EU, about 70% of users have transferred withdrawals to self-custody wallets

According to The Block, Binance Co-CEO Richard Teng stated at the Reuters NEXT Asia summit in Singapore that after Binance suspended services to some EU users, about 70% of users' withdrawal assets flowed to self-custody wallets, with only 30% transferred to licensed platforms that comply with MiCA regulatory requirements.Richard Teng indicated that this data raises questions about the regulatory goals of MiCA. He pointed out that self-custody wallets are not subject to the anti-money laundering (AML) and KYC regulatory frameworks of regulated trading platforms, and the risk may actually increase once user assets are transferred to self-custody.Previously, Binance proactively withdrew its application for a MiCA license in Greece after it failed to be approved before the July 1 transition deadline, and suspended related services to affected EU users. Richard Teng stated that Binance has not given up on the European market, and several EU countries have invited it to reapply for local licenses, although he did not disclose specific countries. In addition, Richard Teng mentioned that Binance plans to continue accelerating its expansion in the Asian market, having already obtained relevant licenses or permissions in markets such as Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, India, and Pakistan, and expects to gain more regulatory approvals this year. Currently, Binance's global user base has increased to approximately 323 million.

The auditing platform Code4rena has announced its shutdown, and Immunefi will absorb its bug bounty clients and researchers

According to official news, the smart contract auditing platform Code4rena has announced that it will gradually cease operations, and the Web3 security company Immunefi will take over its clients and security researchers. Code4rena posted on social media that it has made the decision to shut down and stated that all ongoing competitions and bounty activities will be completed as usual, and existing collaborations will be "properly concluded." Immunefi stated that it will assist in migrating Code4rena's bounty projects, reward structures, and researchers to its platform.Code4rena is known for its "competitive auditing" model, where independent researchers compete to find vulnerabilities in smart contracts for rewards. This shutdown comes less than two years after blockchain security company Zellic acquired Code4rena in 2024. Previously, Code4rena raised $6 million from Paradigm in 2023 for auditing incentives and platform expansion. This shutdown comes at a difficult time for DeFi protocols and the security sector. Data from DefiLlama shows that there were over 20 crypto vulnerability incidents in April alone, setting a monthly record. JPMorgan analysts believe that ongoing DeFi security incidents are limiting major institutional investors from entering the market. Meanwhile, the total value locked in DeFi has decreased from about $160 billion in October to approximately $83 billion currently.
