first_img CXMT has launched the equipment bidding for the new factory in Shanghai and is planning to expand production in multiple locations

China's largest DRAM manufacturer Changxin Storage (CXMT) has recently launched a bidding for equipment from partners for its new factory in Shanghai and is advancing capacity expansion in multiple locations. CXMT is currently mass-producing DRAM in Hefei Phase II and Beijing Phase I, with an estimated capacity of about 200,000 wafers per month, which may exceed 300,000 wafers per month by the end of the year.CXMT plans to open the new factory in Shanghai in the fourth quarter of this year, and the related equipment bidding has already started. Semiconductor equipment industry insiders say that the factory is planned to be expanded in two phases, with capacity significantly exceeding 100,000 wafers per month. Subsequently, there are plans to open a new factory in Hefei in the first half of next year and the earliest new factory in Beijing in the second half of next year, with another new factory in Hefei opening in the first half of the year after next.Equipment industry insiders say that CXMT has communicated with multiple parties regarding the timing of building factories in various locations. If all plans are realized, CXMT could add at least 70,000 to 80,000 wafers of capacity per month each year from this year until 2028, with a long-term goal of exceeding 600,000 wafers per month. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix's DRAM capacities are estimated at about 700,000 wafers and 600,000 wafers per month, respectively.

Two Prime CEO: Bitcoin's rebound still has room, and the short covering of volatility will provide additional momentum

According to CoinDesk, Alexander Blume, founder and CEO of the cryptocurrency asset management company Two Prime, stated that Bitcoin's recent rebound still has room to grow, mainly because institutional investors who have sold volatility are facing position pressure. If the price continues to rise, short sellers being forced to cover their positions will further fuel the upward trend. He pointed out that the current market structure is healthy, with funding rates not showing signs of overheating. The rebound is not driven by speculation, and the continuous inflow of spot ETFs and corporate buying provides substantial support.Although implied volatility has risen from 23%-24% to over 40, it remains low by historical standards. If call option sellers are forced to close their positions, it could accelerate the upward movement. Blume believes that if the macro environment stabilizes, BTC has already formed a bottom around $60,000, with the biggest risk coming from a complete collapse of risk assets. The generally pessimistic market sentiment means that even moderate positive news could have an outsized impact. On the mining front, MARA recently chose to collateralize its BTC holdings to obtain a $600 million loan from Coinbase and Two Prime, rather than selling directly, in order to retain upside potential. Mining companies are diversifying their AI transformation strategies, with Cipher Mining and TeraWulf actively shifting towards AI infrastructure, while CleanSpark and MARA explore AI and power sectors while maintaining their original businesses. Blume expects the Trump administration to push for interest rate cuts, and adjustments to the PCE index may lower inflation readings, which could improve interest rate prospects.

first_img Rising Sun Technology Holdings receives additional advanced packaging and testing orders from Google TPU and Intel

According to a report by the Economic Daily, ASE Technology Holding benefited from the increased capacity of Google TPU, significantly adding advanced packaging and testing orders. Intel is accelerating the promotion of its EMIB advanced packaging platform while simultaneously expanding its outsourcing orders to ASE Technology Holding, with the previously raised testing quotes showing benefits. Google continues to increase its AI capital expenditures to expand data centers, using TPU to support the Gemini large model, AI agents, and Google Cloud services. The market estimates that Google TPU will enter a large-scale production phase by 2028, with shipments expected to reach 12 to 15 million units. ASE Technology Holding has mastered 2.5D, 3D advanced packaging, and high-end testing technologies, and Google is also expanding its use of TSMC's advanced processes and CoWoS capacity.Intel is racing to advance its EMIB packaging platform, with major cloud companies like Meta and Google successively adopting the EMIB and EMIB-T platforms. ASE Technology Holding, positioned as a pure testing and packaging foundry, can directly procure organic embedded silicon bridge substrates to undertake backend wafer-level assembly and high-end testing services. Wu Tianyu, the Chief Operating Officer of ASE Technology Holding, believes that Intel's EMIB and TSMC's CoWoS are not zero-sum competitors. As the testing time for AI chips lengthens, the costs of equipment, materials, and labor are rising, and high-end packaging and testing capacity is becoming increasingly tight. Major testing and packaging factories have gradually raised prices based on products, capacity, and customer conditions, with increases of about 5% to 10%.
