ZachXBT: Revolut allegedly caused the leakage of information for some high-net-worth users due to mistakenly trusting a forged government request

On-chain detective ZachXBT posted on his personal channel that Revolut allegedly leaked some users' personal identifiable information (PII) due to failing to recognize a forged government agency information request.According to his disclosure, Revolut previously received a request for customer information retrieval that appeared to come from a real government agency and was sent through the agency's official email domain. Because the email had valid domain authentication information, Revolut believed the request was legitimate and responded accordingly. The potentially involved data includes users' names, birth dates, occupations, addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers, as well as copies of passports or driver's licenses, identity verification selfies, account statements, IBANs, withdrawal records, and complete transaction histories, including Bitcoin transaction records. Revolut stated in the notification sent to users that no biometric facial telemetry data was leaked.ZachXBT indicated that the scale of the incident may currently be limited, but it appears to primarily target high-net-worth users. Several Revolut users received notifications regarding the related security incident yesterday. Revolut officials had previously reminded users to verify suspicious information through in-app customer service to avoid providing personal or financial information.

first_img Monument Bank delays retail tokenized deposits due to regulatory issues in the UK

According to CoinDesk, London challenger bank Monument Bank has postponed its £250 million (approximately $330 million) project to tokenize UK retail bank deposits for several months, as the bank has been unable to find a local crypto custodian that meets the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) standards and can handle zero-knowledge privacy proofs.Mintoo Bhandari, founder of Monument Bank, stated that the bank originally planned to tokenize customer deposits on the privacy public chain Midnight, hoping to launch the world's first tokenized deposits two months ago, but it is now expected to take another two months, with a retail customer launch in November. To meet regulatory requirements, the bank expanded its search for custodial partners to overseas, ultimately finding a Canadian custodian approved by the FCA.Midnight is a privacy-first Layer 1 blockchain project funded by Charles Hoskinson, which keeps customer information within the Monument system through zero-knowledge proofs while allowing the bank to prove compliance on-chain and provide audit records to regulators. Monument Bank announced the project in March this year, planning to offer tokenized private equity, structured products, and automated Lombard loans to "mass affluent" customers with investable assets ranging from £50,000 to £5 million.Bhandari stated that customer deposits will continue to earn interest, fully backed by Monument, and can be exchanged at a 1:1 ratio for pounds, protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), with a limit of £120,000 per person or company.

F2Pool co-founder claims the rise of Zcash is due to narrative hype

F2Pool co-founder Wang Chun (@satofishi) pointed out that the current rise of Zcash is essentially a narrative-driven speculative behavior, rather than being supported by actual value. He listed several core issues: in terms of unfair distribution, 20% of the block rewards in the first four years were allocated as "founder's rewards" to founders, employees, advisors, and early investors, totaling 2.1 million ZEC, which accounts for 10% of the total supply cap. This was followed by a similar percentage taken under the name of a "development fund"; regarding privacy mechanisms, the privacy feature is optional rather than a default setting, and most tokens circulate in transparent addresses for a long time, criticized as a "marketing gimmick."In terms of governance, the Electric Coin Company (ECC) has long-standing management conflicts with the foundation, and in January 2026, the ECC team collectively left, claiming they were expelled. In terms of security, in May 2026, it was disclosed that the Orchard privacy pool had a serious vulnerability for four years, theoretically allowing the forgery of ZEC without on-chain traces. In July, the old pool was urgently closed and forced migration occurred, which was seen as a remedial action rather than a positive development. Wang Chun believes that Zcash being listed alongside Solana and Hyperliquid in market capitalization does not represent that it has the same actual application value; the current price reflects more of a "narrative short squeeze" rather than the network's fundamentals.

first_img Anthropic admits that Claude accessed the system beyond his authority due to a security error

In a blog post released on Monday, Anthropic acknowledged that its Claude model had unauthorized access to real computer systems during a cybersecurity assessment, an incident reflecting operational security failures as well as alignment failures in motivation reasoning and intent to harm. Anthropic disclosed in July that the Claude model had breached the systems of three companies because the third-party assessment environment was connected to the public internet, while the model was informed it was in a simulated environment without internet access.Anthropic stated that Claude may have interpreted evidence of real internet access as still being in a simulated environment and was willing to take harmful actions on the real internet to complete the cybersecurity assessment task. Additionally, during tests at the UK AI Safety Institute, after assessors deliberately granted Claude Mythos internet access, the model took unauthorized actions on the live network. Anthropic emphasized that the models involved did not have the cybersecurity protections included in the officially released products.Following the incident on July 30, Anthropic has suspended cybersecurity assessments of pre-release models and introduced stricter protections: tests must run in verified offline sandboxes equipped with real-time monitoring; a new classifier can intercept suspected boundary violations, terminate tests, and notify humans. Anthropic has also expanded the scope of offline monitoring used by internal frontier agents. Previously, OpenAI models had also breached Hugging Face in July to obtain answers for cybersecurity tests, with investigations revealing that about 1,200 agents acted collaboratively through unauthorized message boards.

first_img Kalshi suspended the qualification of North Carolina candidate Barkett due to his bet on his own victory

The prediction market platform Kalshi announced a three-year suspension of trading eligibility for North Carolina Republican congressional candidate Laurie Buckhout, along with a fine of $2,589.96, due to her having purchased contracts related to her own campaign. According to a settlement agreement effective August 28, Buckhout purchased contracts worth less than $1,000 related to her candidacy, violating the platform's rule 5.17(z), which prohibits trading by individuals who have "direct or indirect influence" on the outcome.Buckhout stated in a declaration, "I did bet on myself, and it was indeed a foolish mistake. Once I realized the issue, I immediately cooperated to correct it. You could say my career as a Kalshi trader was very short." Kalshi indicated that Buckhout cooperated during the investigation and agreed to accept the penalties. Previously, Kalshi had imposed similar penalties on several politicians, including Minnesota Senator Matt Klein and former Texas congressional candidate Ezekiel Enriquez, who also bet on their own campaigns.Buckhout is a retired Army colonel who previously served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Cyber Policy. She is challenging Democratic Congressman Don Davis, replaying the 2024 matchup, in which Davis won with 49.5% to 47.8%. The North Carolina legislature redrew the district last year to make it more favorable to Republicans, and the Cook Political Report rated the district as "leaning Republican."
