eth

Ether (ETH) is the native cryptocurrency of the Ethereum blockchain, primarily used for paying network transaction fees and computational service fees. As the core asset of the Ethereum ecosystem, ETH plays a key role in the execution of smart contracts, the development of decentralized applications (DApps), and decentralized finance (DeFi). The supply of ETH does not have a fixed upper limit, but inflation is regulated through a burning mechanism introduced by the EIP-1559 upgrade. ETH is not only a medium of exchange but is also used for staking to support Ethereum 2.0's proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus mechanism.

first_img Yield Basis launched the permissionless propAMM, prioritizing the deployment of the WETH pool

The automated market-making protocol Yield Basis, founded by Curve founder Michael Egorov, announced the launch of a permissionless propAMM, aiming to upgrade its liquidity mechanism on Curve. This design combines market perception pricing with dynamic fees, aiming to increase trading volume, reduce arbitrage losses, and improve liquidity provider returns. According to its simulations over the past 18 months, Yield Basis's WETH position is projected to grow at an annualized rate of 8.5% in ETH terms under the new design, compared to 3.6% under existing parameters.Officials stated that WETH liquidity providers do not need to take additional actions, as the new design will directly affect their respective liquidity pools. The small transaction fee for pulling the pool price back to the market price is 0.50%, and anyone can submit prices or deposit funds, with the relevant code being open source. The WETH pool will be deployed first, and Bitcoin-related liquidity pools will follow after the successful deployment of the WETH pool.According to the announcement, the liquidity pool will charge based on the profits earned by arbitrageurs from trades, retaining about two-thirds of the profits above the minimum fee. The new design features lower single transaction fees, with simulated trading volumes approaching three times the current levels, requiring donations of about one-quarter of the current amount. The Yield Basis DAO owns the strategy, and the Curve Emergency DAO can shut it down in emergencies, while the Curve liquidity pool contract itself remains unchanged. Curve DAO vote 1508 will connect the strategy to the WETH pool and set the reserved profit ratio, while Yield Basis vote 60 will set the LevAMM fee at 1.5% (currently 1.3%), with the donation rate being about 1.2% of the pool value per year (currently about 5%). The above simulations only include arbitrage exchanges and do not account for regular trading and liquidation.

first_img CFTC Chairman: Refrigerators can stake ETH and issue Memecoin

Michael Selig, the Chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, stated at the CFTC's inaugural Frontier Forum in Washington that imagining a refrigerator autonomously purchasing groceries with funds from staked ETH, or even issuing its own Memecoin, "is no longer science fiction." He believes that when AI agents can hold assets and execute trades autonomously, regulators must make adjustments.Selig pointed out that the CFTC's regulatory framework is built around executing specific financial functions concerning "identifiable market participants," but autonomous software is raising questions about how these rules apply. He proposed that if AI agents identify trading opportunities and execute trades for users, their developers may need to register, who is responsible when the agent goes out of control, how regulators know for whom the agent is trading, and whether a new type of "Know Your Agent" rule, referred to as KYA, is necessary.Selig also mentioned that AI could provide smaller traders and businesses with risk management capabilities that were previously only available to large institutions, but greater autonomy also brings new risks: agents may react unexpectedly to market conditions, agents using similar models may exhibit correlated trading behaviors, and the speed of autonomous trading could complicate market regulation and risk management. Animoca Brands Chairman Yat Siu recently expressed similar concerns to Cointelegraph; Coinbase launched Agentic Wallets in February, and Binance introduced AI Agent Skills in March, allowing agents to trade within user-defined parameters or provide spot order tools.
