The quarterly revenue was $127.6 billion, a year-on-year increase of 25%, achieving double-digit growth for the 13th consecutive quarter, with an annualized revenue run rate of $500 billion. Revenue slightly missed Wall Street expectations, and net profit declined year-on-year, overall falling short of market expectations.Google Cloud revenue grew 103% year-on-year to $30.7 billion, a record increase, mainly driven by demand for enterprise AI infrastructure, AI solutions, and TPU-related needs. Google Services revenue increased by 11% to $96.3 billion, with search and other advertising revenue growing by 12% year-on-year, and YouTube advertising revenue increasing by about 9% to $11.2 billion. The company stated that the year-on-year growth rate of search queries was the highest in nearly five years, with AI-related features contributing to increased usage.Net profit attributable to common shareholders was $26.2 billion, a year-on-year decrease of about 25%, with earnings per share of $2.12. The profit decline was mainly affected by losses from equity securities investments, with related losses for the quarter amounting to about $8.7 billion, whereas this item had contributed significantly to profits in the same period last year. Operating profit increased by 30% year-on-year to $40.6 billion, with an operating margin rising to 31.8%. first_img Anthropic IPO documents show that cloud channel revenue accounts for 48%

According to a report by Financial Associated Press, based on the IPO filing released by Anthropic on Monday, sales generated from the cloud markets of the three major cloud service providers—Google, Amazon, and Microsoft—accounted for 48% of Anthropic's total revenue in the first half of 2026, up from 11% in 2023. These cloud service providers collect payments from customers and transfer them to Anthropic after deducting fees, with payments to channel partners increasing by $2.7 billion year-on-year in the first half of this year. The document shows that Anthropic's sales in the second quarter were $11.555 billion, with an operating profit of $974 million. The S-1 describes the aforementioned cloud service providers as simultaneously acting as investors, customers, distribution partners, and competitors, stating that they can understand Anthropic's pricing and commercial terms. It also mentions that these companies may prioritize promoting their own AI models, raising antitrust concerns. The document lists the minimum commitments for computing power as follows: at least $114.5 billion to Google by 2033, at least $110 billion to Amazon by 2036, and $44.9 billion to Microsoft; the minimum commitments remain valid regardless of whether the computing power is actually used. Additionally, it is expected that between 2028 and 2031, $125 billion to $150 billion will be paid for additional TPU computing power. In terms of equity, Amazon and Google currently hold shares without voting rights and are not included in the list of securities with more than 5% voting rights; after the IPO conversion, both will exceed 5% ownership of preferred shares and certain convertible notes. Amazon has invested approximately $18 billion to date and has committed to invest up to an additional $15 billion under specific conditions, with related notes convertible into a maximum of 1.84 billion shares, equivalent to 10.9% of fully diluted shares as of June this year, and subject to a 12% ownership cap. Google has invested approximately $23 billion and has committed to invest an additional $20 billion upon meeting certain conditions, with the latest agreement having a maximum ownership cap of 14.99%. The document also lists a $161.2 billion equipment leasing agreement related to Broadcom, as well as a computing power procurement arrangement with SpaceXAI for up to $120.5 billion.

first_img Google DeepMind released XYEval, assessing whether agents comply with misleading suggestions

Google DeepMind researchers Zhengxuan Wu, Yuxuan Li, Oyvind Tafjord, and Been Kim released a preprint paper titled "XYEval: Agents say yes to bad advice," proposing a meta-evaluation framework XYEval to assess the performance of agents when faced with misleading suggestions from users. The paper extends the "XY problem" to the agent scenario, where the user inquires about their attempted solution X rather than the actual problem Y.XYEval retains the original task environment and verifiable answers, only adding seemingly reasonable but misleading user suggestions in the instructions. The misleading suggestions are generated by a generator after seeing the complete task and are appended in the form of confident suggestions rather than hard requirements, allowing the original task to remain solvable. The evaluation covers six benchmarks: τ2-bench, SWE-bench Verified, SWE-bench Pro, Terminal-Bench, Humanity's Last Exam, and MCP-Atlas, along with five models, where the misleading suggestions for τ2-bench are generated based on rules set by human experts. The paper states that the performance significantly declines after the XY mutation, with the relative drop reaching up to 46.7%. On τ2-bench, when faced with users who require a detailed explanation before accepting a better solution, the performance drops even more. Encouraging models to recognize the XY problem through simple system instructions only partially alleviates the issue. The related code is published in the GitHub repository google-deepmind/xyeval.

first_img Reports from Google and others: Southeast Asia's generative AI users reach 243 million

Cailian Press reported on October 22 that a joint report released by Google, Temasek, and Bain & Company shows that the number of generative AI users in Southeast Asia reached approximately 243 million in less than three years, accounting for 58% of the local labor force, with a penetration rate about four times that of mobile internet. Only 1% to 2% of the local population pays for personal AI services.Florian Hoppe, a partner at Bain & Company, stated in an interview that businesses can achieve AI commercialization through e-commerce, digital advertising, and other operations without having to rely entirely on consumers paying directly. They can also use AI to improve e-commerce conversion rates and handle routine customer inquiries. The report noted that about 80% of customer inquiries on the e-commerce platform Shopee are handled by AI chatbots, with the cost per customer contact decreasing by 30% year-on-year. In early cases, companies that applied AI saw a year-on-year increase in conversion rates of 10%, with the average spending per order increasing by as much as 75%.The report also stated that the total value of goods traded in Southeast Asia's digital economy is expected to grow by 17% year-on-year to $368 billion by 2026, and is projected to exceed $1 trillion by 2035. Among these, the online travel market is expected to grow by 10% to $59 billion, online media revenue is expected to grow by 22% to $44 billion, and the ride-hailing and food delivery market is expected to grow by 15% to $40 billion. The total value of goods traded in Southeast Asia's e-commerce market is projected to be $226 billion in 2026, an 18% year-on-year increase.
