first_img Mastercard report: By 2030, 300 million shoppers will regularly use AI agents

Mastercard recently released the report "A Short History of the Future of Shopping and Payments," predicting that by 2030, approximately 300 million shoppers worldwide will regularly use AI agents, primarily concentrated in the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, China, and South Korea. The report is based on a survey conducted from June to July 2026 involving 13 markets and 13,000 pairs of parents and teenagers (a total of 26,000 respondents).The survey shows that 65% of British teenagers believe AI will change the shopping habits of their generation, and the likelihood of teenagers globally using AI for shopping is about twice that of their parents. 22% of British teenagers expect shopping to be dominated by AI within five years, compared to only 11% in France. 79% of teenagers and 70% of parents have used AI to research products in the past year, while 51% of teenagers and 46% of parents have used AI to complete a purchase at least once.The report cites Gartner's prediction that by 2028, the majority of B2B procurement will be mediated by AI agents, driving over $15 trillion in spending; by 2030, 20% of monetary transactions will be programmable. The report also suggests that "Know Your Agent" (KYA) could become a compliance advantage, with payment intent, consent, and machine-readable warranties forming the infrastructure of agent-based commerce.

Douyin internal testing AI workshop, the recommendation page adds interest card display for AI applications

Douyin is currently conducting an internal test of the AI Workshop, aimed at ordinary creators and developers, providing a complete link from AI application building, debugging, and operation to platform distribution, deeply integrating with Douyin's internal traffic system. The AI development framework, interface capabilities, and cloud storage services are all built into the creator's backend.The Douyin App's recommendation page has added a new content form interest card, used to showcase AI applications created in the AI Workshop. Users can directly interact with these cards while browsing the recommendation page, without needing to switch to a mini-program or leave the main app, allowing them to complete Q&A queries, fun interactions, and light tool experiences within the information flow. The interest card relies on Douyin's personalized recommendation distribution, supporting custom gameplay and styles.Creators who do not understand coding can use natural language to describe their ideas for building, while technically skilled developers can modify underlying files for deep customization. Debugging, real-device preview, and publishing can all be completed in the same environment. The produced works can be directly converted into interest cards for placement in the recommendation stream. This product is currently in the invitation-only internal testing phase.

According to an exclusive report from "Du Jia," Xiaohongshu is developing a brand new "AI Shopping Guide" feature, which relies on a conversational interaction model to directly push product cards and attach order jump links in Q&A scenarios. This project is led by Daoxuan (Pan Boyuan). As of the time of publication, Xiaohongshu has not responded.Previously, Xiaohongshu launched an AI summary feature in store reputation, and this AI shopping guide is a further extension of its intelligent transaction chain. According to public data, Xiaohongshu has approximately 400 million global MAU, with 39 million users engaging in explicit purchasing behavior daily, resulting in 140 million active purchase requests, over 47 million users entering merchant live streams, and more than 170,000 merchant group chats remaining active. During the 618 period, the GMV of store broadcasts increased by 265% year-on-year, and note content drove transaction growth of over 210%.Xiaohongshu currently adopts a dual transaction model of "internal marketplace closed loop plus external traffic diversion," and there is still room for improvement in the direct order conversion rate within the platform. The launch of the AI shopping guide feature is expected to further enhance its internal e-commerce GMV and revenue.
