ripple

Ripple, also known as XRP, is a global cross-border payment network created by Ripple Labs, based on distributed ledger technology. The platform offers a range of institutional-grade products, including Ripple Payments for cross-border settlements, Ripple Custody for digital asset storage and security, and the Ripple USD (RLUSD) stablecoin. These solutions enable financial institutions, central banks, and enterprises to integrate digital assets into their operations through the XRP Ledger (XRPL) and other distributed ledger technologies.

first_img Ripple executives claim that corporate treasuries present a $13 trillion opportunity, with RLUSD circulation rising to $2.4 billion

Jack McDonald, Senior Vice President of Ripple Stablecoin, stated in an interview with CoinDesk that corporate treasuries represent a significant growth opportunity for the RLUSD stablecoin, with Ripple Treasury clients processing approximately $13 trillion in transactions annually. This business is built on Ripple's acquisition of financial management software provider GTreasury for $1 billion last year, providing Ripple with a vast customer pool of around 1,200 corporate treasurers and CFOs who transfer funds across borders, between subsidiaries, and domestically.McDonald pointed out that the circulating supply of RLUSD has increased by over 50% in the past month, reaching $2.4 billion, with about $1 billion on the XRP Ledger and $1.4 billion on Ethereum. However, he emphasized that he values the token's utility and daily activity more than its market capitalization, noting that RLUSD's daily active volume has more than doubled since the beginning of the year, rising from about $200 million last month to approximately $750 million. Payments and capital markets are currently the two main application areas, and Ripple has collaborated with institutions such as Franklin Templeton and DBS in tokenized money market funds and lending. In the European market, Ripple plans to introduce RLUSD locally through a dual issuance structure compliant with the EU MiCA framework and has already obtained regulatory authorization in Luxembourg.

first_img Ripple has reached a multi-year partnership with the University of Florida, and the XRP logo will appear on the field

Ripple has reached a multi-year marketing partnership with the University of Florida, and the XRP logo will appear at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, on digital platforms, and on Gainesville event branding starting this football season. The University of Florida Athletic Department officially announced the news on Friday. In addition to brand exposure, Ripple has also committed to providing financial and technological education support for University of Florida student-athletes and the broader campus community, covering both traditional finance and digital assets. University of Florida Athletic Director Scott Stricklin stated that Florida has a long history of embracing innovation and technology, and Ripple has become an innovative leader in the fintech space, looking forward to XRP joining Gator Nation. This is Ripple's latest foray into college sports marketing, having previously signed a multi-year agreement with the University of Kansas earlier this year to feature the XRP logo on Jayhawks basketball team jerseys. At the time of the announcement, the price of XRP was approximately $1.41, up 0.6% in 24 hours, and up about 34.9% over the past 30 days, but still down about 49.8% over the past year. Additionally, demand for spot XRP ETFs has recently cooled, with fund flows remaining flat on September 4, with a cumulative net inflow still around $1.6 billion.

first_img Ripple and Coincheck have successively launched digital asset custody cooperation in Asia

According to Cointelegraph, Ripple announced a partnership with digital asset infrastructure company SettleMint to provide tokenized asset custody and management solutions for financial institutions. Ripple's institutional-grade digital asset custody infrastructure, Ripple Custody, will integrate with SettleMint's Digital Asset Lifecycle Platform (DALP), covering the entire lifecycle of tokens and simplifying the custody process for institutions.Just the day before, digital asset service provider Coincheck Group announced a partnership with wallet infrastructure company DFNS to build digital asset wallet technology and custody services in Japan. DFNS's wallet-as-a-service can provide institutions with complete transaction lifecycle management, including workflow orchestration and governance controls, and supports over 100 blockchain networks. Both collaborations aim to build more institutional-grade digital asset infrastructure to address the barriers for traditional financial institutions entering the crypto space. The 2025 Global Crypto Adoption Index released by Chainalysis shows that on-chain crypto activity in the Asia-Pacific region has the fastest growth rate in the world, with a year-on-year increase of 69%. Currently, several Asian countries are formulating their own cryptocurrency regulatory frameworks. The bill passed in Japan in July classifies crypto assets as financial assets under the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act. Japan's Finance Minister Shunichi Suzuki previously expressed a desire to bring crypto assets under the same regulatory framework as traditional financial assets.

first_img Ripple has established a four-phase quantum-resistant migration plan for the XRP Ledger

Ayo Akinyele, Senior Director of Engineering at Ripple, stated that the company is developing a four-phase quantum-resistant migration plan for the XRP Ledger, aiming to complete the transition before quantum computers become a real threat. The plan includes assessing the network's exposure, testing quantum-resistant cryptographic solutions, running existing security systems in parallel with quantum-resistant alternatives, and preparing emergency response pathways for scenarios where quantum computing advances exceed expectations.Akinyele emphasized that migration is not just about replacing a cryptographic algorithm, but requires more flexible infrastructure, stronger key management, and clearer upgrade paths. The XRP Ledger has supported changing the keys that control accounts without altering the accounts themselves, a feature that is expected to reduce the difficulty of future migrations, but independent validators on the network still need to coordinate any broader rule changes.Meanwhile, Anthropic's model last month reduced the workload required to break leading post-quantum signature candidates by 67 million times, and Bitcoin and Ethereum developers also released their respective migration plans this week. Akinyele pointed out that AI and quantum computing are different technologies, but they are driving financial infrastructure to evolve in the same direction, as AI agents begin to trade and pay autonomously, raising new requirements for payment infrastructure that is always online and natively internet-based.
