The Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan has confirmed that Taiwanese companies will invest an additional 20 billion USD in the United States. Minister of Economic Affairs Wang Mei-hua stated that in response to order demands, in addition to the main production bases in Taiwan, capacity will also be increased in the United States, primarily focusing on semiconductor manufacturers, supply chains, and AI server manufacturers.U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo previously stated that Taiwan would announce investments of 20 to 30 billion USD in the U.S. next week. The Ministry of Economic Affairs responded that this investment is the 20 billion USD announced by Wang Mei-hua during the opening of the SEMICON TAIWAN 2026 U.S. Pavilion on the 2nd. Wang Mei-hua pointed out that global orders for AI and semiconductors are booming, and the global president of SEMI has raised the forecast for global semiconductor revenue in 2030 from 1 trillion USD to 2 trillion USD.The Ministry of Economic Affairs' review shows that as of May this year, 20 semiconductor and AI server-related companies have announced investments of 35 billion USD in the United States, with an additional 20 billion USD added in the following months. Apple faces a $2.7 billion class action lawsuit: accused of unfair application tracking rules against third-party developers, gaining improper advantages in its own advertising ecosystem

According to a report by Reuters, Apple Inc. is facing a class-action lawsuit in London, with claims amounting to £2 billion (approximately $2.7 billion). The lawsuit was filed today in the London Competition Appeal Tribunal by Ann Pope, a former senior official of the UK's Competition and Markets Authority, representing app developers. The core allegation is that Apple's "App Tracking Transparency" (ATT) feature, launched in 2021, imposes stricter restrictions on third-party developers than on its own services, giving Apple's own advertising ecosystem an unfair competitive advantage. Ann Pope stated that Apple's policies "have caused very significant harm to businesses that rely on Apple as a gatekeeper."Since its launch, the ATT feature has been a focal point of concern for global regulators for several years. Apple's official stance is that the feature is designed to allow users to control whether to permit apps to track their activities across other companies and websites. However, the plaintiffs argue that the actual enforcement of this rule has a double standard—tracking requests from third-party apps require strict pop-up authorization, while Apple's own personalized ads and services can bypass the same restrictions. This lawsuit represents the latest legal challenge Apple faces regarding its ATT policy and is the first large-scale private antitrust lawsuit initiated in the UK market against Apple's app ecosystem rules following scrutiny from regulators in the EU, the US, and several other countries.

first_img Fairshake's affiliated PAC spent approximately $190,000 on advertisements in the Massachusetts primary

The political action committee Protect Progress PAC, affiliated with the cryptocurrency industry supporter Fairshake, has spent approximately $189,000 on media advertising ahead of the primary election in Massachusetts's 4th congressional district, supporting Democratic Congressman Jake Auchincloss's re-election campaign. Records from the Federal Election Commission (FEC) show that this expenditure is Fairshake's latest move in the 2026 election, following over $130 million spent on advertising and media promotion during the 2024 election cycle. The Massachusetts primary is scheduled to take place on Tuesday local time. Democratic candidate Jason Poulos sent a letter to Auchincloss on August 16, requesting that he "publicly condemn" Protect Progress's involvement. Poulos stated that some of the funds were used to create "AI-generated spam" supporting Auchincloss, and pointed out that the latter has directly accepted $77,500 in donations from cryptocurrency industry sources since 2020. Auchincloss also voted in favor of the Digital Asset Market Structure Act in July 2025, which is currently under Senate review and has not yet been signed into law.In August, Fairshake and its affiliates invested approximately $3.6 million in congressional campaigns in Alaska, Florida, and Wyoming. Fairshake reported that it has about $122 million in cash ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. Massachusetts will be one of the last states in the U.S. to hold its primary this year, with just over two months remaining until the general election in November.

first_img Fairlead Strategies: Bitcoin is no longer oversold, a breakout is imminent

Fairlead Strategies Managing Partner Katie Stockton stated that Bitcoin is no longer in an oversold state, but it has not yet reached an overbought state. She pointed out that Bitcoin broke through the 200-day moving average in May, and a potential breakout may be imminent. Last week, Bitcoin began to rise due to news that the U.S. Treasury would at least double the scale of liquidity support repurchase operations, with a 7-day increase of over 22%, and the latest trading price is around $78,915, having previously surpassed $81,000 on Monday. For most of June and July, Bitcoin traded below $65,000 and experienced the lowest volatility in 17 years. Analysts believe that the so-called "devaluation trade" may heat up again, where investors buy assets when they believe fiat currencies are devaluing. The dollar declined after the Treasury's announcement, while gold and Bitcoin rose accordingly. U.S. investors re-entered Bitcoin ETFs last week, with inflows nearing $2 billion.Additionally, President Trump met with crypto executives at the White House last week, stating that pushing the Clarity Act through would keep the U.S. ahead. The bill was originally scheduled for a vote in August but has now been postponed to September, and it will establish a framework for distinguishing between securities, commodities, and payment stablecoins in digital assets.

Gate founder Dr. Han: Gate has completed the MiCA licensing layout ahead of schedule, promoting fair competition in the European crypto market

According to CoinDesk, with the official full implementation of the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), the European digital asset market has entered a new era of unified regulation. Regarding the impact of MiCA on the industry landscape, Dr. Han, founder and CEO of Gate, stated in an interview that Gate began laying the groundwork for compliance in Europe several years ago and completed preparations for MiCA and Payment Institution (PI) licenses ahead of schedule in 2025. He pointed out that the significance of MiCA lies not only in establishing a unified regulatory framework but, more importantly, in ensuring that all market participants start from the same starting line. "Only when all platforms adhere to the same rules can the industry truly compete based on products, services, and user experience." At the same time, he also mentioned that if unauthorized platforms can still provide services to European users, the fair competition environment will still face challenges, making the effective enforcement of regulations equally crucial.Currently, Gate Europe has been continuously improving its compliance system, risk management, and operational governance capabilities based on the dual licenses of MiCA and PI, while deepening its global compliance layout. In addition to Europe, several entities under Gate have completed relevant regulatory registrations, license applications, or obtained authorizations and approvals in jurisdictions such as Malta, the Bahamas, Japan, the United States, Australia, and Dubai, solidifying the global business foundation through multi-regional regulatory licenses and continuously providing safer, more transparent, and efficient digital asset services to global users. In the future, Gate will continue to adhere to the parallel development of compliance and innovation, promoting the long-term healthy development of the digital asset industry with higher quality product experiences and global service capabilities.

The Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission recently announced the progress of the first phase of the "Clear and Bright: Rectifying AI Application Chaos" special action. Since its launch in April 2026, this action has focused on issues such as large models not being registered as required, insufficient review and filtering capabilities, AI data poisoning, and inadequate implementation of content labeling. As of now, the first phase has dealt with over 14,000 AI products, including non-compliant websites, applications, and intelligent agents, cleaned up more than 6 million illegal and non-compliant pieces of information, handled over 26,000 non-compliant accounts, and removed over 1,300 non-compliant AI products and 9 non-compliant open-source datasets.During the special action, many local cyberspace departments have taken targeted measures such as establishing coordinated regulatory mechanisms and setting up reporting areas. Key platform companies such as Huawei, Alibaba, Zhiyu, and DeepSeek have also successively improved their registration review, content interception, and data anomaly detection mechanisms. The Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission stated that the next phase of governance will focus on cracking down on prominent issues such as the use of AI technology to create and disseminate false information, spread vulgar content, impersonate others, infringe on the rights of minors, and engage in internet water army activities, further increasing enforcement efforts and urging platforms to enhance their prevention and governance capabilities.

The U.S. Republican Party is dissatisfied with Fairshake's wait-and-see attitude towards the midterm elections and demands clear support

According to Axios, American Republicans are increasingly dissatisfied with the flow of political donations in the cryptocurrency industry, demanding that the pro-crypto super PAC Fairshake, which holds about $165 million in funds, clarify its stance and focus on supporting Republican candidates in the 2026 midterm elections.Republicans pointed out that, against the backdrop of significant progress in promoting pro-crypto legislation such as the CLARITY Act, Fairshake has yet to announce specific election investment plans, which is disappointing. The points of contention include:Ohio Democratic Senate candidate Sherrod Brown: Fairshake spent over $40 million in 2024 to defeat incumbent Senator Brown, but Brown's attitude towards the cryptocurrency industry has noticeably softened in recent years.New Hampshire Congressman Chris Pappas: His Stand With Crypto rating rose from "F" to "A" within 8 months, and Republicans initially expected Fairshake to focus on his campaign. In response, Fairshake supporters stated that it is still too early to speak out and emphasized that the PAC is bipartisan in nature, aiming to "reward supporters and punish critics," rather than unconditionally supporting a particular party. Some pro-crypto Republicans (such as the Winklevoss brothers) have established separate independent groups specifically to support Republican candidates.
