first_img The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) of the United States plans to reform the voluntary disclosure program, reduce tax penalties, and expedite processing

According to a report by Forbes on Friday, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is preparing to reform its voluntary disclosure program, planning to reduce penalties and expedite the processing of tax violation cases, including those involving cryptocurrency.Jarod Koopman, head of the IRS Criminal Investigation Division, stated that the agency aims to launch the revised program before December and to close cases within 120 days after taxpayers complete the required submission process. He noted that the new plan will not establish a separate disclosure channel for digital assets but will apply the same voluntary disclosure procedures to other forms of tax noncompliance. Koopman also mentioned that the penalties under the revised program will be significantly lower than current levels, although he did not provide specific amounts. The IRS is considering allowing taxpayers to settle debts through installment payments or settlement offers.According to Forbes, the current program often takes a year or longer to complete and primarily targets taxpayers who intentionally fail to comply with tax laws and may face criminal prosecution, rather than those who make reporting errors due to negligence. Meanwhile, legislative efforts are advancing another voluntary disclosure program aimed at cryptocurrency taxpayers. Section 502 of the Digital Asset Taxation Certainty Act will establish a correction process with clear penalty standards for past violations, and the bill was passed by the House Ways and Means Committee in September.

first_img U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen: Artificial Intelligence cannot be compared to the Internet bubble

According to attendees, U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent stated during a closed-door meeting on Wednesday that there are no systemic issues in the artificial intelligence industry, and it cannot be compared to the internet bubble at the turn of the century. Bessent expressed an optimistic attitude towards this cutting-edge technology, believing that technological advancements will benefit the United States, but also acknowledged that data centers and AI companies have not done enough to explain the benefits of this technology to the average American. The closed-door meeting attracted over a hundred executives and investors from the financial industry, with ticket prices starting at $7,500 and top sponsorship packages costing up to $100,000. Proceeds from the meeting are used for charity. This year marks the 14th edition, having raised nearly $72 million in total. Bessent has publicly predicted multiple times that the development of artificial intelligence will significantly increase productivity and greatly boost U.S. economic growth. Currently, there is growing concern in American society regarding investments in artificial intelligence and data centers, leading to a sell-off of AI stocks.Former U.S. Treasury Secretary Yellen pointed out that she always confirms the presence of the media and issues public reports when she gives speeches. Bessent's office responded that his views expressed at the closed-door meeting had been publicly stated before and do not involve issues of transparency; in addition to artificial intelligence, he also discussed his views on the U.S. economy. More and more regions are beginning to oppose the construction of data centers, which is affecting the upcoming U.S. midterm elections, leading to a decline in support for U.S. President Trump and the Republican Party.

According to "Du Jia," Tencent is conducting internal testing of an AI interactive content product for children and teenagers called "Dongle Duck," which includes a web version and a WeChat mini-program. The product is currently open for limited testing to parent-child users and teachers, using interactive content "Wonder Cards" as the main medium, allowing parents, teachers, and knowledge creators to use AI to create draggable, simulated, and operable interactive works from knowledge, experience, and creativity.Dongle Duck comes with a content community, accumulating ready-made Wonder Card materials that cover knowledge in various fields such as common life knowledge, art, humanities, and natural sciences. The formats include 3D models, games, picture books, and dynamic courseware. Parent-child scenarios can choose interactive bedtime picture books, rocket launch processes, electronic piano strings, motorcycle structures, and more for simulation; classroom scenarios can visualize physical concepts like friction and levers, and include built-in word puzzles and mini-games; extracurricular content includes miniature courtyard light and shadow simulations of museums, hydrological observation station transitions between dry and wet seasons, previews of pottery shapes and glaze colors, as well as models of electric fields, pulley systems, and the Pythagorean theorem.Parents, teachers, and knowledge creators can input ideas and use the built-in Agent to create picture books, games, dynamic courseware, 3D content, and memory cards. The platform features an inspiration wall and also supports adaptations of existing community works. "Du Jia" states that after entering the command to generate a game of Gomoku in the chat box, the AI will generate a mini-game in the right sidebar, supporting downloads, publishing to the community, or sharing with WeChat and QQ friends; the product also supports uploading recordings and direct dialogue input, turning existing materials into interactive knowledge.
