first_img Jensen Huang: The likelihood of a memory supply surplus before 2029 is low

According to the Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated during a media interview at the GTC conference in Berlin on Thursday that the likelihood of a memory supply surplus by 2029 is low. He mentioned that one great aspect of memory is that there is always more that can be used, and he noted that HBM will continue to be applied in the coming years.Jensen Huang also stated that Nvidia is the first company in the world to introduce LPDDR memory, used in mobile phones, into data centers, which doubles its energy efficiency compared to any current global solution, thus it will continue to use this type of memory extensively. He mentioned last Thursday that customer demand for AI chip orders continues to exceed the company's supply capacity, with new orders pouring in almost weekly, if not daily. In the past week, storage chip stocks faced sell-offs due to market concerns over supply surplus and weak demand. A well-known media outlet in South Korea published a column last week, citing two experts who predicted that by 2029, there will be a significant increase in semiconductor supply, and the storage chip market may turn into a red ocean. On Thursday, the Nasdaq Composite Index closed down 2.6%, at 26008.86 points; SanDisk fell 8.51%, SK Hynix fell 8.07%, Seagate Technology fell 7.86%, Western Digital fell 6.43%, and Micron Technology fell 6.23%.

JPMorgan Chase: The technology sector still has a surplus of 400 billion dollars this year

J.P. Morgan's latest report states that publicly listed technology companies worldwide are expected to generate approximately $2.2 trillion in operating cash flow this year, with capital expenditures and R&D expenditures totaling about $1.8 trillion. After deductions, there remains a surplus of about $400 billion, sufficient to support current AI infrastructure investments without relying on external financing. In response to market concerns regarding the sustainability of financing models for new cloud vendors, J.P. Morgan believes that their scale is still relatively limited compared to the entire technology sector. Even if financing comes under pressure, it is unlikely to shake the overall AI investment cycle. The report estimates that new cloud vendors will have operating cash flow of about $30 billion this year, with capital expenditures and R&D expenditures around $80 billion. If there is a funding gap, more financially robust hyperscale cloud service providers can still take on the related demand.J.P. Morgan also pointed out that part of the current financing demand in the technology sector stems from large-scale stock buybacks. Companies can release funds by reducing buybacks to maintain AI investments. The overall stock position in the market has retreated from the mid-September peak, and trend-following investors' long positions in semiconductors have also been largely digested. The bank believes that the short-term downward space in the market is gradually narrowing.

Spark releases Q1 2026 financial report: net agreement surplus of 3.46 million USD

The Spark protocol released its financial report for the first quarter of 2026 on April 27.The report shows that the gross protocol return for the quarter was $31.5 million (a 31% decrease quarter-over-quarter), the net protocol return was $6.91 million (a 30% decrease quarter-over-quarter), and the net protocol surplus was $3.46 million (a 47% decrease quarter-over-quarter). The protocol treasury reached a size of $46.1 million at the end of the quarter (a 5.7% increase quarter-over-quarter). Additionally, Spark launched a SPK token buyback program, investing $986,000 to repurchase tokens from the open market. The revenue structure for this quarter has shifted, with distribution rewards becoming the largest net return contributor to the protocol ($3.31 million), surpassing the net income from Spark Liquidity Layer (SLL) for the first time. The average deployed capital for SLL was $1.93 billion, with an average annualized yield of 5.8%. SparkLend continues to support institutional-level lending operations, with its USDT savings treasury continuing to grow. The Spark institutional lending product deployed $150 million at the end of the quarter, with governance approving its $1 billion cap.The report noted that the current unfavorable conditions in the DeFi lending market have led to a narrowing of the SLL interest margin, but the protocol's distribution business has seen significant growth. USDS, as a scalable savings-based return mechanism in a poor market environment, is continuously expanding its distribution channels to multi-chain and various stablecoins.
