first_img TrendForce: The top ten foundry revenues before the second quarter of 2026 are nearly 53.49 billion USD

TrendForce's latest research on the wafer foundry industry shows that in the second quarter of 2026, the total revenue of the world's top ten wafer foundries increased by 11.5% quarter-on-quarter, approaching $53.49 billion, setting a new record. The growth mainly comes from the continued demand exceeding supply for advanced processes in AI and HPC processors, as well as the rising demand for peripheral AI chips such as PMICs and power discrete devices; the early stocking of consumer supply chains for TVs, PCs, and laptops has also tightened the capacity of some mature processes.TSMC continues to lead, with revenue nearing $40.2 billion in the second quarter, a quarter-on-quarter increase of 12.1%, and a market share of 72.5%. The demand for AI server GPUs and XPUs has kept its 5/4 nm and 3 nm capacities fully loaded, and the initial stocking of the new iPhone has also contributed, with 2 nm making its first revenue contribution. Samsung Foundry ranks second, with revenue of $3.26 billion, a slight quarter-on-quarter increase of 1.8%, and a market share dropping to 5.9%. SMIC ranks third, with revenue exceeding $3 billion, a quarter-on-quarter increase of 20%, and a market share rising to 5.4%, narrowing the gap with Samsung.UMC maintains fourth place, with revenue of nearly $2.18 billion, a quarter-on-quarter increase of 12.7%, and a market share of 3.9%. GlobalFoundries is fifth, with revenue of approximately $1.79 billion, a quarter-on-quarter increase of 9.3%, and a market share of 3.2%. Hua Hong Group ranks sixth, with revenue exceeding $1.27 billion, a quarter-on-quarter increase of 3.5%. Tower, World Advanced, Jinghe Integrated, and Powerchip rank seventh to tenth, with revenues of $460 million, $451 million, $447 million, and $432 million, respectively.

first_img Goldman Sachs: Optical networks are the next trend in AI infrastructure, with TAM increasing 9 times to 154 billion USD

Goldman Sachs' Global Technology Equity Research Team released a report on April 17, 2026, stating that networks unlock the computing power of a single AI chip by connecting multiple chips, enabling seamless data exchange and low latency. With the expansion of AI infrastructure and the enhancement of computing power, various configurations are expected to see growth, further opening up a 9-fold Total Addressable Market (TAM) space to $154 billion. The report pointed out that the dollar content of horizontal and vertical scaling increases by 16 times and 45 times, respectively; the TAM for optics expands 13 times from horizontal to vertical scaling; the market value of pluggable optical modules in horizontal scaling expands 10 times from AI server models in the second half of 2025 to models in the second half of 2027. The authors include Allen Chang, Verena Jeng, James Schneider, Mark Delaney, among others. The total dollar content for each computing unit in vertical and horizontal scaling is expected to increase from $315,000 for GB300 NVL72 to $9.4 billion for Rubin Ultra NVL576, a 29-fold increase. The total value TAM increases 9 times to $154 billion (mainly in 2028), of which 69% ($106 billion) comes from vertical scaling. The analysis covers the dollar content and market opportunities of configurations such as copper cables, pluggable optical modules, CPO, and PCB backplanes.

Gate Research Institute: In August, the overall risk assets increased, and the trend momentum strategy performed steadily

Gate Research Institute released the August 2026 cryptocurrency and TradFi quantitative report. BTC and ETH rose approximately 25.1% and 32.6% respectively during the month. Gate contract data shows that the open interest amount for BTC increased from about $4.02 billion to $4.38 billion, while ETH rose from about $2.46 billion to $2.75 billion, with increases of approximately 9% and 12.1% respectively. The funding rates for both remained moderately positive most of the time, with long positions dominating the number of accounts, but the active trading long-short ratio was below 1. The TradFi market also rose in sync, with NAS100 increasing about 4.2% during the month, outperforming US500 and US30, while large tech stocks showed a divergence in trends. The report compared four models: moving average trends, trend momentum, Donchian breakout, and RSI mean reversion. Backtesting results showed that the 100-day moving average and 20-day price momentum strategies achieved positive cumulative returns on BTC, ETH, US500, and NAS100, with a median Sharpe ratio of 0.64 and a median maximum drawdown of 8.71%. The report includes Gate TradFi's US500 and NAS100 in cross-asset observations and evaluates market heat by combining Gate contract long-short ratios, funding rates, and open interest data. The execution over the next one to three months will focus on trend confirmation, volatility rebalancing, leverage limits, and cooling off abnormal liquidations.
