first_img After the release of GPT-6 Astra, users complained that it became less intelligent, and OpenAI has not yet responded

According to a report by Decrypt, OpenAI's latest flagship model GPT-6 Astra has seen a surge of user complaints on the X platform about its performance "getting dumber" just a week after its release. An anonymous developer, synthwavedd, posted that "Astra feels noticeably dumber today," joking that it was a "post-release lobotomy." Previously praising the model, developer Pranjal Paliwal stated after reviewing the code Astra wrote for him: "We don't have AGI; what we're encountering is a performance regression."Developer Pankaj Kumar listed the symptoms: faster responses with poorer quality, and he suspects OpenAI has lowered the "juice value" (the computational power invested by the model before answering). Salio and researcher Md Ismail Sojal compared Astra on the release day with the current version using the same prompts, both yielding worse results. T3Chat founder Theo believes Astra is simply less stable than Claude Fable, with users beginning to showcase poor results after the honeymoon period ended. There are also opinions pointing out that OpenAI's previous flagship GPT-5.6 Sol experienced a similar cycle in July, when OpenAI executive Tibo Sottiaux denied intentionally weakening the model but admitted the company had been experimenting with "reasoning effort" settings.OpenAI has not released a statement regarding Astra similar to that of Sol.

ZachXBT: Revolut allegedly caused the leakage of information for some high-net-worth users due to mistakenly trusting a forged government request

On-chain detective ZachXBT posted on his personal channel that Revolut allegedly leaked some users' personal identifiable information (PII) due to failing to recognize a forged government agency information request.According to his disclosure, Revolut previously received a request for customer information retrieval that appeared to come from a real government agency and was sent through the agency's official email domain. Because the email had valid domain authentication information, Revolut believed the request was legitimate and responded accordingly. The potentially involved data includes users' names, birth dates, occupations, addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers, as well as copies of passports or driver's licenses, identity verification selfies, account statements, IBANs, withdrawal records, and complete transaction histories, including Bitcoin transaction records. Revolut stated in the notification sent to users that no biometric facial telemetry data was leaked.ZachXBT indicated that the scale of the incident may currently be limited, but it appears to primarily target high-net-worth users. Several Revolut users received notifications regarding the related security incident yesterday. Revolut officials had previously reminded users to verify suspicious information through in-app customer service to avoid providing personal or financial information.

first_img Trezor marketing platform was breached, 347,000 users received phishing emails

Bitcoin hardware wallet manufacturer Trezor has warned that its third-party marketing platform Brevo, used for sending newsletters, experienced a data breach, with attackers using the platform to send phishing emails to 347,000 Trezor customers. The attackers sent emails using Trezor's domain, making the phishing attempt more deceptive, with malicious links encouraging users to download applications and enter wallet backups.Trezor stated that it shut down the domain at the DNS level within 20 minutes to prevent the links from remaining active, but approximately 2,500 people had already clicked on them. Trezor has suspended its Brevo account to stop further emails from being sent and emphasized that other Trezor systems were not affected aside from the marketing platform, while reminding users that Trezor never asks customers for wallet backups.Prior to this incident, Trezor disclosed last month that its third-party fulfillment partner ShipMonk was attacked, resulting in the data breach of 11,742 customers; last week it also reported that the names, emails, phone numbers, shipping addresses, and order numbers of another 67,000 U.S. customers were exposed in the breach. This year, cryptocurrency wallet Ledger's payment processor Global-e and wallet provider SafePal have also experienced data breaches, with approximately 39,800 customers' order information at SafePal being accessed without authorization.

first_img Ethereum will include Frame Transactions in the 2027 upgrade, allowing users to pay Gas without holding ETH

According to CoinDesk, Ethereum core developers have included EIP-8141 (Frame Transactions) in the 2027 Hegotá upgrade plan. During the core developer call on August 27, the proposal was marked as "Scheduled for Inclusion," meaning it will become part of the network update rather than just a candidate proposal. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, one of the ten authors of the proposal, stated on X on Sunday night that Frames have made significant progress in the past few months.Frames aim to address the issue where users hold stablecoins but cannot transfer them due to a lack of ETH. It splits transactions into independent steps such as authorization verification, fee payment, and instruction execution, allowing the sender and payer accounts to no longer have to be the same. For example, payment applications can cover fees themselves or settle ETH bills on behalf of users after collecting stablecoins, while the Ethereum network still prices in ETH, and users do not need to purchase ETH. Unlike existing wallet solutions that rely on third-party services, Frames will achieve this capability through the standard Ethereum transaction process.Additionally, Frames will bundle operations that need to be executed simultaneously, such as authorization and submission in token transactions, with authorization being revoked if the transaction fails; it also allows accounts to customize transaction approval rules, enabling the replacement of private keys or the adoption of quantum-resistant keys without needing to migrate funds to a new address. Currently, the specification is still a draft, and details may be adjusted before the Hegotá upgrade, with users unable to use Frames yet.
