first_img Anthropic's prospectus names TSMC, warning that advanced chip production capacity is concentrated in Taiwan

The AI laboratory Anthropic, which developed Claude, named TSMC in its IPO prospectus, warning that the world's most advanced chip manufacturing capacity is highly concentrated in Taiwan. The prospectus states that if TSMC's operations are disrupted, it could severely impact the supply of AI chips and affect Anthropic's business, financial condition, and operational results.According to MoneyDJ citing the prospectus, the global AI industry heavily relies on TSMC's advanced processes. Suppliers such as NVIDIA and AMD, as well as companies that design their own chips like Amazon and Google, all need TSMC to turn their designs into physical chips. The listed risks include earthquakes, typhoons, interruptions in power and water supply, as well as cross-strait geopolitical tensions, military conflicts, blockades, tariffs, and trade restrictions. The prospectus also states that if a significant event occurs in Taiwan, the supply of advanced chips could be severely hindered; due to the time-consuming nature of building and certifying alternative foundries, the impact could last for several years. The expansion of advanced processes outside Taiwan is still in its early stages, making it difficult to effectively reduce concentration risks in the short term. TSMC has been unable to fully meet market demand due to strong demand, resulting in Anthropic not being able to obtain a sufficient supply of chips in a timely manner.

DeGods founder Frank: Anthropic's prospectus cannot hide the investment risks in AI

The founder and trader of the NFT project DeGods, Frank, posted on X that although Anthropic's latest S-1 shows strong revenue growth, it cannot be concluded that the resistance to AI investment has disappeared. He stated that the second quarter of 2026 will be a peak for companies to purchase and consume AI Tokens in large quantities, and the market will only begin to pay attention to AI spending management by July; the rise in model homogeneity and the narrowing of output differences may intensify competition and compress profit margins, a trend that has not yet fully manifested in the second quarter.Frank also mentioned that there is still a lack of clear evidence proving that AI can create more profits for most companies, and Anthropic's large enterprise clients are also under pressure to improve their profit margins, which may lead to cuts in spending related to Claude in the future. Large tech companies and AI labs have signed capital expenditure commitments extending to 2034, and related expectations may have already been factored into stock prices; if companies improve the efficiency of existing chips to reduce costs or issue more shares to raise additional capital expenditure, it could put pressure on the valuations of related stocks. He expressed a long-term optimistic view on AI and may participate significantly in the Anthropic IPO, but believes that the ultimate winners in the industry have yet to be determined, and real investment opportunities may only emerge after the current market cycle ends.

Institution reviews Anthropic's prospectus, focusing on growth and computing power costs

After Anthropic publicly submitted its prospectus the previous evening, investment institutions and market participants began to assess its growth quality, cost structure, and potential valuation. Morningstar senior equity analyst Malik Ahmed Khan and PitchBook analyst Rolfes stated that as of September 30, Anthropic had over 11,900 enterprise customers contributing at least $100,000 in revenue over the last 12 months, compared to about 950 in the same period last year. Khan believes this reflects a faster adoption of Claude in the enterprise market and significant revenue growth.Analysts also pointed out that the rapid increase in customer numbers alone is insufficient to indicate long-term revenue stability. The prospectus lacks detailed data on customer retention, and the disclosed net revenue retention rate is also affected by a small base; as the comparison base expands, this metric may decline. Investment in computing power is another focus. Morningstar believes that Anthropic currently demonstrates a certain level of computing efficiency and operational efficiency, but some computing resources and related expenditures have not yet been fully reflected; as more computing power is utilized, costs may rise, and if revenue growth does not keep pace, profit margins will be under pressure.PitchBook analyst Rolfes reminded that the scale of future computing contracts and infrastructure commitments is enormous, and whether revenue growth can be sustained is an important variable in assessing profitability prospects. Gavin Baker, managing partner and chief investment officer of Atreides Management, stated that it is still possible for Anthropic to reach an annualized recurring revenue of $100 billion by the end of the year; this statement reflects his personal judgment and is not the company's published performance guidance. Nigel Green, CEO of independent financial advisory firm deVere Group, questioned the market's rumored potential valuation of $2 trillion, calling this expectation "absurd," and reminded to pay attention to infrastructure investments, slowing growth, and future financing needs. The $2 trillion figure remains a market rumor, and the prospectus has yet to determine the offering price and scale.

Anthropic will publicly release its IPO prospectus on October 26

AI company Anthropic is expected to publicly file its IPO prospectus on October 26, U.S. time, with plans to go public in mid-November. The company submitted documents to the U.S. SEC in secret this June. There was previous market discussion of a $2 trillion valuation; however, as AI-related stocks have come under pressure, some investors have recently lowered their expectations to about $1.5 trillion. The prospectus has not yet been officially released, but Reuters and The Wall Street Journal have obtained a draft. In the first half of this year, revenue was $16.3 billion, compared to $1.1 billion in the same period last year. The net loss during the same period was $80.7 billion, of which about $72 billion came from valuation adjustments of financing instruments such as convertible bonds, rather than actual cash burned. Revenue for the third quarter was $16.8 billion, a quarter-over-quarter increase of about 45%, with the previous quarter's growth exceeding 140%. The company stated that it achieved profitability in the third quarter on an adjusted basis.Future commitments for infrastructure such as cloud computing, chips, and data centers have exceeded $60 billion and will occur over the coming years. By 2025, 47% of revenue will be generated through Amazon and Google's cloud platforms, which are both investors and computing power suppliers. The company plans to allow the seven co-founders to collectively hold 50.1% of the voting rights through a special equity structure, while a long-term public trust composed of non-shareholders will still have the authority to appoint and dismiss the majority of board members. The formal prospectus will need to further clarify the actual revenue contributions from the two major clients, the specific costs of computing power contracts, and whether existing shareholders can sell their stocks first at the time of the IPO.

SpaceX IPO prospectus reveals deep intertwining with Musk's companies, Tesla holds nearly 19 million shares of SpaceX

SpaceX's initial public offering (IPO) prospectus (Form S-1) shows that there is extensive business and equity overlap among several companies owned by Elon Musk. In this 330-page document, "Tesla" is mentioned 87 times, "xAI" appears 356 times, "X" appears 267 times, and "The Boring Company" and "Neuralink" are mentioned 7 times and 3 times, respectively. In terms of equity, Tesla holds approximately 19 million shares of SpaceX Class A common stock, accounting for less than 1%. In February of this year, after Musk merged his artificial intelligence company xAI with SpaceX, Tesla's shares in xAI were converted into SpaceX shares. In terms of business transactions, SpaceX purchased $131 million worth of Cybertrucks from Tesla at the manufacturer's suggested retail price. Previously, it was reported that SpaceX purchased 1,279 Cybertrucks in the fourth quarter of 2025, and the prospectus suggests that the actual purchase quantity may be higher. Additionally, SpaceX purchased $697 million worth of Megapack energy storage batteries from Tesla in 2024 and 2025 to stabilize peak demand at its Colossus I and II data centers located in Memphis, Tennessee. The prospectus also reveals the financial pressures brought about by the merger. SpaceX will allocate approximately 60% of its capital expenditures (about $20 billion) to xAI in 2025, but xAI's revenue grew only 22% year-over-year last year, and it incurred losses amounting to billions of dollars. In the risk factors section, SpaceX explicitly lists Musk himself as a major risk. The document states that the company "is highly dependent on Musk's continued services," and his leadership, vision, and technical expertise are crucial to the company's future. At the same time, SpaceX acknowledges that Musk is not always 100% focused on company affairs, and several of his companies may compete with each other or encroach on each other's business in certain areas. Musk is not restricted from engaging in activities that may directly compete with SpaceX, which could lead to potential conflicts of interest in the future. Furthermore, Musk's statements and actions may have positive or negative impacts on the company's business, customer relationships, regulatory relationships, or stock price.

SpaceX is expected to publicly file its prospectus next week, aiming to raise over $70 billion

According to CNBC, SpaceX plans to publicly release its IPO prospectus as early as next week, aiming to start a global roadshow on June 8 to formally introduce the deal to investors. The company secretly submitted its IPO application in April this year. This IPO is expected to become the largest in history. In February this year, SpaceX completed a merger with Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company xAI, resulting in a post-merger entity valuation of $1.25 trillion. Reports indicate that the company's target fundraising scale for the IPO is about $70 billion to $75 billion, more than double the record set by Saudi Aramco in 2019. The expected valuation for the SpaceX IPO has risen from $1.75 trillion to $2 trillion. According to regulations, the prospectus must be made public at least 15 calendar days before the roadshow begins, but SpaceX and its advisors hope to disclose it earlier to give investors more time to digest the financial data. Due to the unprecedented scale of this stock sale, SpaceX's advisory team is seeking special sales channels, particularly targeting retail investors outside the U.S. who prefer long-term holdings, including engaging with brokers in countries such as the UK, Japan, and Canada to secure allocation shares for their clients. As a result of this news, satellite and space concept stocks like Redwire, AST SpaceMobile, and Rocket Lab surged by 22.08%, 10.96%, and 6.77% respectively on the 14th.
