first_img Anchorage expands cooperation with Bitso, custodians of the stablecoin channel between the United States and Mexico

Anchorage Digital announced the expansion of its custody and listing arrangements with the Latin American cryptocurrency platform Bitso, extending its custody layer to cover both ends of the stablecoin corridor between the United States and Mexico. According to the agreement announced on Tuesday, the Mexican peso stablecoin MXNB issued by Bitso is now being custodied by this federally chartered crypto bank across six blockchains: Arbitrum, Base, Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche, and Arc.Meanwhile, Bitso has launched the USD stablecoins USDPT and USAT, which are issued and custodied by Anchorage, with the former coming from Western Union and the latter from Tether. The financial terms were not disclosed by either party. This collaboration targets one of the largest cross-border payment flows in the world, the U.S.-Mexico remittance corridor, which transfers billions of dollars annually, with approximately 15% currently operating through Bitso's infrastructure.Nathan McCauley, CEO and co-founder of Anchorage, stated that the U.S.-Mexico corridor is where stablecoins transition from theory to large-scale real money flows, and the company has now become the institutional custody layer at both ends of that flow. Ben Reid, head of stablecoins at Bitso, mentioned that customers can now access the complete dollar-peso corridor through a fully on-chain method supported by a federally chartered bank. This move also continues the trend of Circle's recent expansion of Latin American stablecoins with the launch of a USDC settlement pilot in Colombia.

first_img Securitize collaborates with Anchorage Digital Bank to directly mint stablecoins

Anchorage Digital, the first federally regulated crypto bank in the United States, announced a partnership with the tokenization platform Securitize, which will allow for the direct minting and redemption of stablecoins issued by Anchorage Digital Bank, N.A., without the need for intermediaries. Anchorage Digital Bank is also responsible for custody and settlement, ensuring that the counterparty and custody standards on the dollar side of tokenization transactions on Securitize align with those on the securities side.Securitize is the largest tokenization platform globally by assets under management, providing regulated infrastructure for tokenized funds for institutions such as Apollo, BlackRock, BNY, Hamilton Lane, KKR, and VanEck, with platform assets exceeding $4 billion. The stablecoin issuance ecosystem of Anchorage Digital Bank includes USDtb, issued in collaboration with Ethena Labs, and USA₮, co-developed with Tether.According to an independent reserve report verified by Anchorage Digital Bank, as of August 31, 2026, approximately 99% of the $530 million reserves of USDtb are held by the Securitize tokenized BlackRock BUIDL fund.Nathan McCauley, co-founder and CEO of Anchorage Digital, stated that Anchorage Digital Bank is designed for the large-scale issuance of stablecoins under federal regulation, and regulated issuance is key for tokenization to reach institutional scale. Carlos Domingo, chairman and CEO of Securitize, mentioned that collaborating with Anchorage Digital Bank enables them to directly access digital dollars issued under federal regulation and custodied by the same institution.

first_img Aave Labs proposed to deploy V4 isolated Hub for accessing custodial collateral

On September 14, Aave Labs released an ARFC on the Aave governance forum, seeking approval to deploy a new Aave V4 Isolated Hub and Spoke to integrate institutional custody collateral as collateral for stablecoin loans. Institutional borrowers will deposit collateral with Anchorage and maintain custody during the loan period, with the custody balance represented on-chain by non-transferable custody collateral tokens CoCT, minted and burned by CustodySync designed by Chainlink.Borrowers will stake CoCT on the Spoke and withdraw stablecoins from the Isolated Hub. The entire loan lifecycle, including liquidation, is synchronized between the custodian and Aave through Chainlink infrastructure. The proposal is limited to a single Isolated Hub and a single Spoke governed by the Aave DAO, without altering existing Hubs, Spokes, or reserves. The underlying assets will always remain in custody, with Anchorage holding the assets as the custodian and acting as the counterparty for account control protocols; Chainlink does not hold the assets.CoCT is a restricted transfer ERC-20, only allowing Hub, Spoke, and CustodySync, with minting and burning exclusive to CustodySync, and each borrower's position corresponding to a contract. The initial plan is to launch a CoCT for BTC held in custody by Anchorage. The next steps involve ARFC discussions, and if supported, it will proceed to Snapshot, followed by submitting the final parameters for AIP.
