The 2026 Fortune Global 500 list was released on July 28, with the total revenue of the listed companies amounting to approximately $43.1 trillion, exceeding one-third of the global GDP, with a year-on-year growth of about 3.2%. Amazon topped the list for the first time, ending Walmart's twelve-year streak; State Grid ranked third. Alphabet took the title of "most profitable company in the world" from Saudi Aramco with a net profit of $132.17 billion. NVIDIA ranked second in profits, and TSMC was the only Chinese company to enter the top ten in profits.A total of 141 companies from the United States made the list, 122 from China (including Taiwan), and 40 from Japan. The total revenue of Chinese listed companies is approximately $10.4 trillion, with an average profit of $4.5 billion, about 40% of the average profit of U.S. companies ($11.24 billion). JD.com (41st) ranked first among private companies in mainland China, while Alibaba (56th), Tencent (97th, entering the top 100 for the first time), Pinduoduo (255th), and Meituan (311th) all saw improvements in their rankings.In the high-tech sector, 38 listed companies had an average profit of $21.98 billion. NVIDIA jumped 38 places to rank 28th, TSMC rose 44 places to rank 82nd, SK Hynix ranked 210th, and Micron Technology and Advanced Micro Devices returned to the list after many years. The automotive industry saw increased differentiation, with BYD ranking 91st, CATL significantly rising 43 places to rank 260th, and Chery Automobile making the list for the first time as a publicly listed company. The company with the largest increase in ranking was Wistron, which surged 298 places to rank 198th.
