first_img Anchorage expands cooperation with Bitso, custodians of the stablecoin channel between the United States and Mexico

Anchorage Digital announced the expansion of its custody and listing arrangements with the Latin American cryptocurrency platform Bitso, extending its custody layer to cover both ends of the stablecoin corridor between the United States and Mexico. According to the agreement announced on Tuesday, the Mexican peso stablecoin MXNB issued by Bitso is now being custodied by this federally chartered crypto bank across six blockchains: Arbitrum, Base, Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche, and Arc.Meanwhile, Bitso has launched the USD stablecoins USDPT and USAT, which are issued and custodied by Anchorage, with the former coming from Western Union and the latter from Tether. The financial terms were not disclosed by either party. This collaboration targets one of the largest cross-border payment flows in the world, the U.S.-Mexico remittance corridor, which transfers billions of dollars annually, with approximately 15% currently operating through Bitso's infrastructure.Nathan McCauley, CEO and co-founder of Anchorage, stated that the U.S.-Mexico corridor is where stablecoins transition from theory to large-scale real money flows, and the company has now become the institutional custody layer at both ends of that flow. Ben Reid, head of stablecoins at Bitso, mentioned that customers can now access the complete dollar-peso corridor through a fully on-chain method supported by a federally chartered bank. This move also continues the trend of Circle's recent expansion of Latin American stablecoins with the launch of a USDC settlement pilot in Colombia.

first_img Blink Wallet charges a monthly fee of 1 USD for idle custodial accounts, encouraging users to switch to self-custody

Blink Wallet, a Bitcoin wallet, announced a monthly idle fee of $1 for custodial accounts that have not logged into the app for 12 consecutive months. This adjustment was initiated at the beginning of September through a change in the terms of service and push notifications were sent to inactive users, with the first deduction completed in mid-October. According to a blog post released by the company, users who log back in within 12 months will have the deducted fees refunded. This fee applies only to custodial accounts and aims to alleviate the burden that inactive accounts place on the startup. The announcement stated that these accounts incur ongoing costs related to ledger and infrastructure maintenance, record verification retention, compliance monitoring and reporting, as well as support for claims, which were previously shared by active users through regular in-app transaction fees. Sources told Bitcoin Magazine that approximately 100,000 accounts met the criteria for inactivity at the time of the first deduction, with a total balance exceeding $800,000. The first deduction collected about $45,000, primarily from accounts that had been idle for over a year with small Bitcoin balances. Blink Wallet originated from the Bitcoin adoption wave in El Salvador, initially named Bitcoin Beach Wallet, and was an early custodial Lightning Network wallet that introduced the Stable Sats feature to hedge value against the US dollar. The wallet was spun off from the founding company Galoy in October 2024, operated by Lukas Duczko and a new board, with Duczko holding a controlling stake, while Galoy continues as a service provider and minority shareholder, also establishing the Bitcoin Beach Fund.In recent years, custodial wallets have faced overall pressure, with Wallet of Satoshi, Alby, and Blue Wallet successively halting custodial wallet services and shifting to self-custody infrastructures like Spark. The EU MiCA regulations regarding licensing and KYC compliance requirements are an important backdrop. Blink launched a self-custody wallet supported by Spark in June 2026, and its user base is still adapting to this transition. On September 19, hackers withdrew 6.61 Bitcoins from custodial wallet users through compromised management tools, and the company's investors subsequently announced that they would fully compensate affected users.

first_img Vantage and Rio Bank completed the first tokenized deposit loan participation payment

Vantage Bank and Rio Bank completed principal and interest payments for loan participants using the loan service platform Participate, utilizing tokenized deposits from Hazel Network. Participate stated that after Vantage submitted the payment, the platform completed the distribution of principal and interest, with tokenized deposits reaching the recipient's digital wallet in less than 3 minutes. The loan balance and payment notifications were automatically updated in sync, connecting the traditional processes that relied on wire transfers, spreadsheets, and email notifications. This payment was announced on October 19.This payment marks the first implementation of the collaboration between the two banks that began in April this year. Custodia CEO Caitlin Long confirmed that the transaction occurred on the Ethereum mainnet. Hazel was jointly developed by Vantage and Custodia: Participate (a subsidiary of BankLabs) provides loan workflows and payment instructions, Vantage offers banking services and reserves, and Custodia is responsible for wallets, blockchain operations, compliance, and reconciliation monitoring.According to the Hazel white paper, this settlement model includes both on-chain and traditional bank ledger records, with transactions permitted only for authorized participants, while customer identities and account information are kept off-chain. Participate plans to offer tokenized deposits and Fedwire payment automation services to 750 banks for loan participation and syndicate payments.

first_img INFINIT launched a custodial trading vault on Hyperliquid

On October 12, 2026, the strategy and treasury infrastructure provider INFINIT launched a custodial trading treasury framework, with the first named treasury being APEX Multi-Strategy. The treasury is limited to qualified Hyperliquid markets with an open interest of at least $100 million. Depositors enter with USDC during the specified window and receive receipt tokens representing their shares. The strategy manager trades within a fixed period, and at the end of the term, holders can redeem their shares based on the treasury's USDC value after fees are deducted. The manager sets fees, lock-up periods, deposit windows, risk limits, and strategies before opening deposits.INFINIT states that deposits are held in a 3-of-4 multi-signature, with keys distributed between INFINIT and the operations team. Trading vouchers can be opened and closed, but depositor funds cannot be withdrawn. The company publishes a shared trading wallet and provides weekly performance reports to depositors. The shared infrastructure INFINIT OS covers strategy research and testing, treasury setup, share accounting, controlled execution, risk monitoring, and investor reporting, and can provide strategy managers with legal frameworks, regulated fund licenses, and fund management support.Managers must comply with INFINIT Standard to accept deposits, including completing identity verification and screening, co-investing with depositors in initial loss capital, demonstrating live trading records, and declaring market, leverage, exposure, and drawdown limits. The first treasury is operated by Apex Quantitative Capital, with a strategy based on a systematic CTA momentum model, covering stocks, commodities, and crypto through Hyperliquid perpetual contracts, maintaining a dollar-neutral book.

first_img Aave Labs proposed to deploy V4 isolated Hub for accessing custodial collateral

On September 14, Aave Labs released an ARFC on the Aave governance forum, seeking approval to deploy a new Aave V4 Isolated Hub and Spoke to integrate institutional custody collateral as collateral for stablecoin loans. Institutional borrowers will deposit collateral with Anchorage and maintain custody during the loan period, with the custody balance represented on-chain by non-transferable custody collateral tokens CoCT, minted and burned by CustodySync designed by Chainlink.Borrowers will stake CoCT on the Spoke and withdraw stablecoins from the Isolated Hub. The entire loan lifecycle, including liquidation, is synchronized between the custodian and Aave through Chainlink infrastructure. The proposal is limited to a single Isolated Hub and a single Spoke governed by the Aave DAO, without altering existing Hubs, Spokes, or reserves. The underlying assets will always remain in custody, with Anchorage holding the assets as the custodian and acting as the counterparty for account control protocols; Chainlink does not hold the assets.CoCT is a restricted transfer ERC-20, only allowing Hub, Spoke, and CustodySync, with minting and burning exclusive to CustodySync, and each borrower's position corresponding to a contract. The initial plan is to launch a CoCT for BTC held in custody by Anchorage. The next steps involve ARFC discussions, and if supported, it will proceed to Snapshot, followed by submitting the final parameters for AIP.
