Bitget CFD Chief Analyst: The real risk of PPI is not the increase, but the restart of cost transmission

This week's upcoming release of the U.S. Producer Price Index (PPI) has become a key point for judging whether inflation is re-accelerating. Bitget CFD Chief Analyst Lewis Huang pointed out in a live broadcast that, against the backdrop of 162,000 new non-farm jobs and an unemployment rate holding steady at 4.1%, the demand side in the U.S. remains resilient. If core PPI and service prices continue to stay high, companies may pass costs onto consumers, driving up subsequent CPI and prompting the market to reprice the Federal Reserve's policy path of "maintaining high interest rates for a longer period."Lewis Huang further analyzed two scenarios: if PPI exceeds expectations but CPI remains moderate, it indicates that companies lack pricing power and can only compress profit margins to absorb costs; if both PPI and CPI exceed expectations, it signifies that the inflation transmission chain has reopened, potentially serving as a catalyst for a stronger dollar and U.S. Treasury yields. From a trading perspective, if PPI exceeds expectations and drives the dollar up, gold and high-valuation tech indices like the Nasdaq 100 may come under pressure; conversely, if PPI falls short of expectations and the dollar retreats, it would support a rebound in gold and growth stock indices.Lewis Huang reminded traders that they should not only focus on the first wave of market movements following the data release but also observe whether PPI is confirmed by CPI, the dollar, and U.S. Treasury yields. If the rise in PPI is merely a short-term cost shock, the market impact will be limited; if costs continue to be transmitted to consumers, the market narrative may shift back to "recurring inflation and the continuation of high interest rates."

first_img The Central Bank of the Philippines plans to freeze the registration of payment operators for 12 months, tightening VASP regulation

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has released a proposed announcement to suspend the acceptance of new applications for registration of payment system operators (OPS) for 12 months and to implement stricter controls on payment arrangements involving virtual asset service providers (VASP). The BSP stated that this move aims to conduct a comprehensive review of its classification and licensing framework.According to the draft, during the suspension period, the BSP will stop accepting and processing OPS applications. Applications submitted prior to the suspension can continue to be evaluated, but will not be approved or rejected until the suspension ends. Relevant entities are prohibited from conducting business activities that require OPS registration unless they obtain special authorization from the regulatory agency. In addition, BSP-regulated entities providing merchant acquiring services must connect licensed VASPs through direct merchant arrangements, and such relationships will be subject to enhanced due diligence, transaction and settlement limits, and other risk control measures. This requirement applies to virtual asset enterprises licensed, registered, or authorized by the BSP, the Securities and Exchange Commission of the Philippines, or other regulatory agencies, with VASPs being categorized alongside betting, gaming, adult industry, and money service businesses. If the draft is ultimately approved, it will take effect 15 days after publication, and the BSP is currently seeking public comments.

first_img Towns transfers operational management to the Swiss Foundation, with some co-founders stepping back

Towns co-founders Ben and Pat announced that after five years of collaboration with Brian, they have completed the transfer of protocol operations to the Towns Foundation located in Switzerland. The new experienced leadership team will continue to manage the protocol, drive the next phase of growth, and will gradually appear through official channels. The protocol will continue to operate as a decentralized communication protocol, supporting on-chain community ownership, end-to-end encrypted messaging, programmable identities, and native value transfer.According to reports, Towns has accumulated over 1.6 million users and over 400,000 communities, with users expected to earn over $40 million through the protocol by 2025, and has completed listings on multiple mainstream exchanges. The protocol also supports real-time messaging, payments, governance, and $TOWNS network incentives. The team pointed out that building a sustainable company and building a protocol are different challenges, and in response to changes in the market environment, they chose to hand over the protocol to the appropriate team for continuation rather than shutting it down. Both parties expressed their anticipation for the foundation to promote the development of Towns in the intersection of decentralized communication and AI. Pat and Ben will engage in new ventures while continuing to support the transition part-time, thanking the team, investors, node operators, exchange partners, developers, $TOWNS holders, and community members.
