first_img TSMC's 1.4 nanometer factory in the Central Science Park is accelerating fully, with mass production expected in the second half of next year

The Central Science Management Bureau confirmed on the 9th that TSMC's Central Science Phase II 1.4 nanometer factory expansion is fully accelerating. The first P1 factory has completed its steel structure and is expected to begin trial production in April next year, with mass production anticipated in the second half of next year, ahead of the originally scheduled mass production in 2028. TSMC has applied to the Central Science Management Bureau to set up two temporary offices at the site, which are expected to be completed in April next year, with the first batch of over 5,400 operational and outsourced personnel moving in.The advanced process new factory for TSMC's Central Science Phase II park broke ground last October, planning to build four 1.4 nanometer factories, with nearly 2,000 workers working day and night. The P1 factory is currently undergoing floor and exterior wall construction, with the factory building expected to be completed early next year. The P2 factory has begun basic construction and is scheduled to be completed in October next year, with both factories expected to start mass production successively next year. The P3 factory has obtained a construction permit, while the P4 factory is in the process of applying for a construction permit, planning to be built with a six-month gap. P3 is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2028, and P4 is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of the same year. After the P2 factory is completed in the second half of next year, an additional 1,000 operational personnel will be added, with the total number of employees expected to be between 9,000 and 10,000 when all four new factories in Phase II are completed and put into production.

first_img Bernstein maintains an outperform rating on Robinhood, with a target price of 160 USD

Analysts at research and brokerage firm Bernstein maintain an outperform rating on Robinhood Markets with a target price of $160, stating that its newly launched Layer 2 network, Robinhood Chain, has become a source of profit for the company. Since its launch on July 1, the network has generated approximately $39 million in fees, with annualized fees expected to reach $160 million by 2028. Over the past 15 days, Robinhood Chain has topped all chains with approximately $33 million in fees, surpassing Solana (approximately $11 million) and BNB Chain (approximately $9 million).According to the Bernstein report, Robinhood retains about 90% of the fees, with approximately 10% going to Arbitrum, which provides the technology, and less than 1% paid to Ethereum as data fees. The value of tokenized stocks on Robinhood Chain has risen from about $10 million to $140 million over the past two months, accounting for approximately 32% of the value of tokenized equity transfers in the week of August 30, second only to BNB Chain. The total supply of stablecoins on the chain has reached approximately $1 billion, a significant increase from about $241 million in early July, with USDG accounting for about 66% and USDe for about 33%.Robinhood's stock price fell 2.09% last Friday, closing at $122.11, with the target price implying about 31% upside potential. The U.S. market was closed on Monday due to a public holiday.

first_img The U.S. Department of Justice and CrowdStrike teamed up to dismantle the Sality botnet, which had been operating for over 20 years

According to Decrypt, CrowdStrike and the U.S. Department of Justice announced on Tuesday that they have dismantled the Sality peer-to-peer botnet, which has been active since 2003.This botnet primarily hijacked cryptocurrency payments through the EggJagger malware over the past eight years, which monitored the cryptocurrency wallet addresses in victims' clipboards and replaced them with the operator's own address, causing victims to send funds to strangers.CrowdStrike estimates that the operator has stolen at least 12.1 million rubles (approximately $150,000) solely through the EggJagger payload. Most of the stolen cryptocurrency has not been spent, and CrowdStrike assesses that these unspent assets were worth about 147 million rubles (nominally around $1.35 million) at their peak in January 2025. The reason Sality has survived to this day is that it does not have a central server that can be seized; infected machines communicate directly with each other. This multinational operation involved the United States, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Romania. The U.S. Department of Justice, FBI, and Defense Criminal Investigative Service seized Sality-related domains within the United States, and police from multiple European countries also seized other domains.CrowdStrike isolated more than 15,000 infected machines to its controlled honeypot by exploiting its architectural vulnerabilities. The operator has been tracked as SALTY SPIDER, which launched a denial-of-service attack against the Russian cryptocurrency exchange AvanChange in September 2023.

first_img Samsung Electronics' operating profit in the third quarter may exceed 1 trillion won for the first time

According to a report by South Korea's Seoul Economic Daily on August 31, the prices of HBM and DRAM used in AI accelerators continue to rise. Data from the Korea Trade Association shows that DRAM export volume decreased from approximately 681.7 million units in May to 591.74 million units in July, a decline of 13.2%. However, the export value increased from $11.428 billion to $13.552 billion, a growth of 18.5%, with the export unit price rising from $16.76 to $22.9, an increase of 36.6%.The supply of HBM4 to customers such as Nvidia is expanding, but the initial yield is lower than that of HBM3E, exacerbating the overall DRAM supply shortage. Samsung Electronics' memory division is reportedly planning to allocate about 70% of its capacity to long-term supply agreements until 2031, with major clients including Nvidia, Microsoft, and Google. Mega Grid Supply data shows that the spot price for HBM3E 36GB is $2,100, approximately 4 to 5 times the long-term contract price; the spot price for HBM4 16-layer, which is in mass production coordination, is about $3,500.The financial investment community expects Samsung Electronics' third-quarter revenue to reach 206.64 trillion won and operating profit to reach 116.38 trillion won, with operating profit expected to exceed 100 trillion won for the first time. SK Hynix's third-quarter revenue is expected to be 101.76 trillion won, with operating profit of 79.16 trillion won. Samsung Electronics is considering converting its only wafer foundry line S5 in the Pyeongtaek campus to memory production as early as next year.
