Bonk Guy responded to the controversy over buying EMBER: starting to build a position with a market value of about 7 million USD, optimistic about its Launchpad data growth

ChainCatcher crypto trader Bonk Guy posted on the X platform in response to the recent controversy surrounding his purchase of EMBER and explained his investment logic. Bonk Guy stated that he first noticed the project when EMBER's market cap was about 3 million dollars but did not buy in. After observing for a day due to the rapid growth of platform data, he re-evaluated and bought in from a market cap of about 7 million dollars all the way up to a 20 million dollar market cap.Bonk Guy mentioned that EMBER is the main Launchpad based on Meteora, supporting the use of SOL, USDC, and over 150 tokenized stocks as paired assets for issuing tokens, and employs Meteora Dynamic Bonding Curve technology, while also providing features such as token tax distribution, Daily Jackpots, and DAO governance.According to his disclosure, Ember recorded about 51.7 million dollars in trading volume and 561,000 dollars in fees within 3 days of launch, with a total of 2,041 tokens issued, over 41,800 unique wallet addresses, and 149,000 Solana transactions. Bonk Guy compared his purchase of Ember to his previous trade in PONS, stating that he first saw PONS when its market cap was below 1 million dollars, similarly ignoring it for a whole day, and then began buying in at around a 4 million dollar market cap. Rather than whether a popular token has already emerged, it is more important to observe the real usage data underlying the Launchpad.Additionally, Bonk Guy stated that both Robinhood Chain and BNB Chain have multiple successful Launchpads, and that Solana's meme trading ecosystem has developed over a longer period, so there is no reason to believe that Solana can ultimately only accommodate one successful Launchpad. He also mentioned that his trading decisions are not based on market consensus. Some of his past most successful trades often came from identifying opportunities before the market formed a consensus; by the time everyone recognizes it, the asymmetric upside potential is usually significantly reduced.Regarding the recent controversy, Bonk Guy stated that the claim "EMBER has over 50% of Bubblemaps address clusters" has been clarified by Bubblemaps; his previous statement that Ember "was launched by Meteora" is also inaccurate, with a more accurate description being that Ember is based on Meteora's related infrastructure, which is now included in the Meteora ecosystem page. Bonk Guy emphasized that he has no relationship with the Ember team, and EMBER is a personal trade for him.

first_img After the release of GPT-6 Astra, users complained that it became less intelligent, and OpenAI has not yet responded

According to a report by Decrypt, OpenAI's latest flagship model GPT-6 Astra has seen a surge of user complaints on the X platform about its performance "getting dumber" just a week after its release. An anonymous developer, synthwavedd, posted that "Astra feels noticeably dumber today," joking that it was a "post-release lobotomy." Previously praising the model, developer Pranjal Paliwal stated after reviewing the code Astra wrote for him: "We don't have AGI; what we're encountering is a performance regression."Developer Pankaj Kumar listed the symptoms: faster responses with poorer quality, and he suspects OpenAI has lowered the "juice value" (the computational power invested by the model before answering). Salio and researcher Md Ismail Sojal compared Astra on the release day with the current version using the same prompts, both yielding worse results. T3Chat founder Theo believes Astra is simply less stable than Claude Fable, with users beginning to showcase poor results after the honeymoon period ended. There are also opinions pointing out that OpenAI's previous flagship GPT-5.6 Sol experienced a similar cycle in July, when OpenAI executive Tibo Sottiaux denied intentionally weakening the model but admitted the company had been experimenting with "reasoning effort" settings.OpenAI has not released a statement regarding Astra similar to that of Sol.

Forward Industries: Released a white paper on the regulatory framework for crypto vaults, responding to SEC Commissioner Peirce's statement

According to Forward Industries (NASDAQ: $FWDI) in a public letter, the company's General Counsel Georgia Quinn officially responded to SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce's statement on July 22, 2026, titled "Headstands and Summervaults," and proposed a three-tier vault regulatory framework centered on "management freedom" as a core variable:• Type I - Use: Developers provide out-of-the-box software, and users configure parameters themselves without registration;• Type II - Follow: Referencing the SEC's 2013 no-action letter regarding AngelList, Angels set strategies for others to follow, meeting conditions such as co-investment and information disclosure, without needing to register as investment advisors;• Type III - Advised: Involves active management, requiring registration or applicable exemptions, suggesting that the SEC and CFTC jointly regulate to avoid dual compliance conflicts. The article also presents five baseline requirements applicable to all vaults, including conflict of interest disclosure, code public audit, exclusion of disqualified persons, applicability of anti-fraud rules, and state law preemption. The article specifically notes that Peirce's statement did not mention the CFTC, and the inter-agency regulatory issues regarding mixed-asset vaults urgently need to be addressed by the SEC and CFTC.

first_img Metaplanet's options pool has caused shareholder dissatisfaction, CEO responds to the concerns

The tenth round of executive option pool at Japan's Bitcoin treasury company Metaplanet continues to spark shareholder dissatisfaction. This option pool was originally designed to be 20% of the fully diluted equity and automatically expands as the company issues new shares to increase its Bitcoin holdings. Some shareholders are calling for the cancellation of the newly added 273 million shares and for greater transparency in future decision-making. On August 18, Metaplanet froze the option pool at 319.5 million shares, but critics argue that this actually amplifies the dilution for existing shareholders, as the option pool increased from 46 million shares to 319.5 million shares.Metaplanet CEO Simon Gerovich has committed to re-evaluating the company's governance and compensation policies and clarifying its relationship with shareholder MMXX Ventures, stating that it is merely a non-controlling significant shareholder of MMXX's parent company and does not hold an executive position. On August 31, Metaplanet disclosed that Gerovich had exercised 92,000 shares from the option pool. Matthew Sigel, head of digital asset research at VanEck, suggested freezing further exercise rights of the tenth round option pool, allowing holders to voluntarily waive excess rights, and replacing the tenth round option pool with a five-year incentive plan primarily linked to each share's fully diluted Bitcoin holdings, approved by shareholders. In its announcement on August 18, Metaplanet acknowledged that the decision to expand the option pool "amplified the dilution borne by existing shareholders." As of Wednesday's close in Tokyo, Metaplanet's stock price rose, narrowing the five-day decline to about 16.3%.

first_img Metaplanet CEO responds to equity incentive doubts, shareholders say key issues remain unresolved

The CEO of Bitcoin Reserve Company Metaplanet, Simon Gerovich, posted on the X platform in response to the controversy surrounding the company's equity incentive plan and MMXX Ventures. Gerovich admitted that the company "failed to adequately explain" the incentive arrangement known as "Series 10 Stock Options" and stated that he is a "significant but non-controlling shareholder" of MMXX's parent company, not involved in its trading decisions. The controversy stems from a stock rights plan established in December 2022, with a reward pool set at 20% of Metaplanet's fully diluted equity. After shifting to a Bitcoin reserve strategy in April 2024, the company dilutes existing shareholders with each new share issuance, while Gerovich's option rights increase accordingly. On August 18, the board canceled the floating adjustment mechanism, fixing the Series 10 pool at 319 million shares and setting a five-year lock-up period, but did not restore the reward pool to the level it was at when the Bitcoin strategy was initiated. On August 28, Gerovich exercised 92,000 Series 10 options, acquiring 64 million new shares, and currently holds about 6.2% of the company; he and MMXX together hold over 27% of the fully diluted equity.Shareholders expressed dissatisfaction. A shareholder using the pseudonym The Bitcoin Pharaoh stated on X that the adjustments in August were "a step in the right direction," but demanded that Gerovich address the issues that have arisen, disclose the owners of MMXX, and restore the reward pool to the level it was at when the Bitcoin strategy was initiated.
