first_img Former FTX Chief Operating Officer criticizes Netflix's new series trailer, stating that he felt uncomfortable after watching it

The complete trailer for Netflix's upcoming FTX-themed series "The Altruists" was released this week, and former FTX Chief Operating Officer Constance Wang criticized the trailer in a post on X, stating that watching it made her "physically want to vomit." She mentioned that she had served as COO since before FTX was named and viewed the company as her child. She was also the last person to leave the Bahamas after Sam Bankman-Fried was extradited and lost all her assets in FTX, thus she has no intention of defending those responsible for all of this.Wang pointed out that the media is eager to tell the story of FTX's collapse due to the team's partying in the Bahamas, but her workplace was completely different. The core team of the company had fewer than 200 people at its peak, while other exchanges of similar size had thousands of employees, many of whom worked 16 to 18 hours a day for over three years with almost no time to sleep. She also questioned the portrayal of Caroline Ellison in the trailer, stating that she had worked with Caroline and had never seen her as aggressive as depicted in the trailer; she described her as quiet and gentle, often lost in her own thoughts. Most of the team only learned about Caroline's relationship with Sam through reports after the bankruptcy."The Altruists" consists of eight episodes and will premiere on Netflix on November 19, featuring Anthony Boyle as Sam Bankman-Fried and Julia Garner as Caroline Ellison. FTX collapsed in November 2022 due to a liquidity crisis, exposing its close financial ties with Alameda Research and issues of customer fund misappropriation. Bankman-Fried was convicted of seven counts of fraud and conspiracy in November 2023 and sentenced to 25 years in prison; Ellison pleaded guilty and cooperated with prosecutors, receiving a two-year prison sentence in September 2024.

first_img GTA 6 trailer now Dacity Coin, the same named Solana Meme coin skyrocketed 2900%

On Thursday, Rockstar released the trailer for the launch of "GTA 6," in which an airplane's fuselage is printed with the words "DacityCoin AudaCity," and a character ignites a neon pink flare on the wing. The term "Dacity Coin" appears for only about two seconds but triggers a surge in on-chain transactions. Within an hour of the trailer's release, a meme coin of the same name on Solana skyrocketed 2900% from a market value of $104,000, reaching a peak of $3.18 million. Since the token was created five days before the trailer was released, traders had ample time to buy in before the surge. The birth of this token stems from game footage of "GTA 6" leaked by the notorious Rockstar hacker "Cyberleek," which featured Dacity Coin, though only a few traders noticed at the time. The coin launched on October 11 on the Solana new listing platform Pump.fun, with its market value briefly soaring to $1.14 million, then falling back to $144,700 and consolidating until it surged again on Thursday. According to DEX Screener data, 24 traders made over $10,000 in profit on this token, with the highest earner turning $1,912 into $44,000. Currently, Dacity's market value is $1.5 million, down about 53% from its peak of $3.18 million.According to the GTA wiki, the game's protagonist, Lucia, is asked to promote the AudaCity brand with parachuting stunts and attract investment for Dacity Coin. If true, the game seems to satirize the various extreme performances that meme coin creators have conducted over the years to promote their tokens. There have been precedents for similar situations: in February 2025, "Fortnite" introduced a fictional cryptocurrency called Dill Bits, after which a real token of the same name appeared on Solana, peaking at a market value of $4.78 million before plummeting 96%; in April of the same year, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney called it a scam, after which the coin surged 2700% and then dropped 82% within days. Rockstar has yet to respond regarding Dacity Coin.

first_img Netflix released a trailer for a series about FTX, focusing on SBF and Caroline Ellison

Netflix released a trailer for an eight-episode series that tells the story of the collapse of the cryptocurrency exchange FTX, focusing on former CEO Sam Bankman-Fried and his colleague and girlfriend, Caroline Ellison, head of FTX's sister company Alameda Research. The series will premiere on November 19, with Anthony Boyle portraying Bankman-Fried and Julia Garner portraying Ellison. The trailer emphasizes that "going all in on math is the optimal strategy," seemingly pointing to FTX's use of user funds for high-risk investments. Ellison, played by Garner, says in the trailer, "Lying isn't bad for a good cause," echoing Ellison's testimony during the 2023 trial, where she stated that Bankman-Fried believed the rules against lying and stealing did not necessarily apply to effective altruism, a philosophy that advocates doing good whenever possible, including through accumulating wealth to donate to charitable causes. After the collapse and bankruptcy of FTX, Bankman-Fried, Ellison, and related individuals were indicted in December 2022. Ellison pleaded guilty and cooperated with prosecutors to testify, while Bankman-Fried chose to stand trial, was convicted on seven counts of fraud, and sentenced to 25 years in prison. As of October, he remains incarcerated in federal prison and has requested a pardon from President Trump and for the Supreme Court to overturn his conviction; Ellison was released in January.

a16z co-founder: Support the establishment of trust and safety guardrails for the new era, oppose regulations that stifle AI innovation

Marc Andreessen, co-founder of the venture capital firm a16z, published an article outlining his stance on AI regulation by the U.S. government. He stated that if so-called regulation means creating complex rules by people who do not understand the technology, suppressing innovation through layers of approval and compliance requirements, and ultimately becoming a tool for large enterprises to consolidate market positions and hinder newcomers, then he will firmly oppose such regulation. In his view, excessive regulation often leads to startups being crushed by cumbersome procedures and high compliance costs, causing innovative talent to flow to more open markets, while regulatory agencies themselves continue to expand, ultimately deviating from their original goals.Andreessen specifically criticized the regulatory mindset centered on the "precautionary principle," arguing that if this concept is amplified indefinitely, it could lead society to reject new technologies out of fear of potential risks. Many regulatory measures often arrive late, after fundamental changes in technology and industry have already occurred, making it difficult to address real issues and potentially becoming obstacles to innovative development. He also attributed the relatively lagging state of technological innovation in Europe in recent years to a culture of excessive regulation, believing that regulation should not become a moat to protect vested interests and raise market entry barriers. However, Andreessen emphasized that he does not oppose all forms of regulation. On the contrary, he supports rules that can build market trust, ensure public safety, and maintain fair competition. For example, preventing AI from faking voices to commit financial fraud, preventing deepfake content from interfering with elections, preventing technology from being used to harm vulnerable groups, and ensuring that consumers and businesses can safely use new technologies. In his view, reasonable regulation is like guardrails on a highway and a braking system in a car; it does not hinder technological progress but rather allows innovation to develop in a faster and more sustainable manner. Andreessen stated that what is truly worth pursuing is not "zero regulation" or "heavy regulation," but finding a balance between innovative vitality and social trust, which is also his unwavering stance.Previously, the U.S. government forcibly "recalled" commercial models due to jailbreak risks, leading Anthropic to take Fable 5 offline overnight and publicly protest.

first_img Former BlackRock executive Joseph Chalom: Over 95% of stablecoins are pegged to the US dollar, and Asian regulators should not allow payment rails to be dominated by the dollar

ChainCatcher reported live that HashKey Capital CEO Deng Chao and Sharplink CEO Joseph Chalom jointly attended the 2026 Hong Kong Web3 Carnival roundtable discussion, exploring "From Finance to Strategy: How Public Companies Are Positioning Themselves Based on Digital Assets."Chalom, who worked at BlackRock for 20 years, began leading BlackRock's blockchain and digital assets team six years ago, during which he launched Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, raising about $100 billion at its peak. He stated that the choice to establish a digital asset treasury with Ethereum rather than Bitcoin is because Ethereum is a "native productive asset," which can earn nearly 3% returns through staking, while Bitcoin can only be held in anticipation of appreciation. Sharplink has been listed on Nasdaq and has raised billions of dollars to purchase Ethereum since launching its digital asset treasury strategy last June, currently holding approximately 770,000 ETH and earning about 17,000 ETH and over $35 million in rewards for investors through staking.Regarding industry trends, he pointed out that Ethereum is dominating three major use cases: stablecoins (over 60% occur on Ethereum), asset tokenization, and decentralized finance. He specifically warned that currently over 95% of stablecoins are denominated in US dollars, and if stablecoins are to become the payment rail for trillions of transactions in the AI economy, Asian regulators should not allow them to be dominated by the US dollar and US Treasury bonds, as this will trigger a geopolitical competition to advance local stablecoin legislation.Discussing market cycles, he noted that the crypto market has experienced significant pullbacks since last October, with short-term prices being unpredictable, but in the long term, the current risk-reward ratio is at its best level in a long time. He emphasized that digital asset treasuries are not passive investments; Ethereum is a high-volatility asset, and volatility is a characteristic of capital appreciation rather than a defect.
